Tony, I remember those guards too. Wasn't the place called Hemer? We used to guard the out fence, as Jim said, and the Yanks used to be paranoid about us looking into the compound. If they spotted one of us looking in, all hell let loose. I remember also, One of our lads, for some reason or other, had to visit the American guardroom and forgot to take his I.D. card. The b***ards wouldn't let him out and the poor sod got dropped right in the smelly over it.
