Although Marz found the conversation in the room interesting, he could no longer ignore the grumbling of his stomach. "I'm going to look for a before dinner snack," he whispered to Tristan after strapping on his weapons.

Seeing the dragon struggling to pull on his clothes beneath the robe he wore made him want to laugh. Of course, his laughter would only upset Tristan and since he didn't want to have to deal with an irate lover, he managed to keep a serious expression on his face. "I'll be in the dining hall in case you want to find me when you're done dressing."

Since everyone's attention seemed to be on Ravin at the moment, Marz slipped from the room virtually unnoticed. He went directly to Corum's door and knocked, happy to find his friend dressed and eager to go off to raid the kitchen with him.

When they reached the bottom of the staircase, the Queen met them. "I'll be teleporting to the bazaar in Jayib shortly because I am in need of components for some elixirs I'm working on. Please inform the others that I won't be attending dinner." A smile played at the corners of her mouth then. "Tell Rowan that I will leave my bedroom door unlocked and that I hope to see him later on tonight."

Marz and Corum shared a knowing look after Kazabet hurried away. "So the elf is making time with the Queen, huh?" Marz said with a laugh as they continued on their way. After passing a couple of zombies, the ex-gang leader turned to his friend. "I think Kazabet must have done something to improve the quality of her undead beings. Those two didn't even stink and they seemed to have a little more life in their step."

Corum nodded in agreement then followed Marz into the kitchen where several more zombies were gathered around, preparing a variety of dishes for the dinner table. "These guys still smell," he whispered to Corum, before snatching a loaf of freshly baked bread out of the hands of one of the creatures.

The skull staff wielder picked up a small knife and a jar of strawberry preserves then they made their way into the large dining room. While Corum pulled the bread apart and spread preserves over the slices, Marz returned to the kitchen in search of something to drink. He was unaware of the fact that there was a living person masquerading as a zombie standing amongst the regular zombies near the stove. This particular zombie stared at him from beneath the hood of its cloak.

"Is there any java ready?" Marz asked.

The zombie, who was really Mordan, a warrior of the Jangali Royani, lowered its eyes. He tried not to smile as it handed the youth a jug of juice that he had recently spiked with a little of the sleeping powder he hoped to be able to add to the stew pot soon.

"This will do for now," the ex-gang leader said, "but bring out the java as soon as it's ready." With the jug in hand Marz hurried off to take a seat beside Corum at the huge table in the dining room. He filled two glasses with the juice then helped himself to a slice of bread.

Justin, Eremis, and Jeremy entered the room, and joined them at the table. Marz glanced at the otherworldly youth who sat down beside him, opposite Corum then focused on the piece of bread in his hand while speaking. "Java will be ready soon. Help yourselves to some juice now if you like."

Much to healer's delight, the merc got up from his seat and made his way to the liquor cart, returning with a bottle of wine. "I'll have some of that instead," Eremis and Jeremy said in unison.
