Erlic, and Valhorek managed to imitate the others, picking up one of the inanimate chairs, and using them as weapons against the animated chairs, eventually destroying them. That’s when Erlic spotted Ravin leaning against the wall, and then suddenly dipping backwards as a secret door opened up behind the younger thief, sucking him in.

Erlic looked around, and disregarded the other animated creatures, if any were left, calling upon his friends to follow after Ravin. He went first, explaining to Isobel to follow afterwards. There was no sense in all of them getting ambushed, if in fact that were the case. Erlic made it to the bottom, and quickly was on his feet as he spotted Ravin close by, along with three very large golums. His fellow thief quickly informed him, and the others who were not appearing, that the creatures could be killed, but it took a bit of doing, and that their eyes were quite vulnerable.

The guild master quickly had shurikens out, and used his chi to focus his aim on one of the golums. The miniature flying daggers quickly found their mark in one of the golums, causing the creature to howl out loud in pain. Even now as he tried to duck the massive clubs the golums were using, he wished that Jade was here to help out with her magic. But she was gone, and they had to do the best they could, considering the circumstances.

Erlic looked around as he ducked the massive swing, and found some rather large stones. It was worth a shot, as he scampered across the floor, trying to avoid the other two creatures. He picked up the stones, and started to hurl them at the creatures, trying to catch them in the eye. Surprisingly enough, the stones succeeded in hindering the large creatures, as the others tried to slowly take down the creatures.

Eventually the stones had vanished, and he was forced to use his weapon against them. He sliced with the Katana, slowly, very slowly, penetrating their defense, but each time had to duck out of the way for fear of getting injured. A few times the clubs managed to knock him across the room. Fortunately, the monsters were large, and not that quick, and it was the only method to their madness.

Valhorek had followed down, along with the Jann, and was soon engaged in combat. His massive sword succeeded in cutting deeper into the golum’s defenses, but not after getting hit by the creature. Over, and over, Valhorek, Isobel, Ravin, and Erlic, along with help from the Jann, continued to pursue their enemy until finally all three of the creatures had finally fallen to the ground, but not without some injury to the travelers.

The healer went around tending to all those that had gotten injured, and the group spent some time recovering after the vicious battle. Everyone, including the Jann, had suffered various bruises that would eventually, over time, turn a darkish color. Fortunately their injuries weren’t too severe, but it had tired them out considerably.

Erlic eventually stood up, and stretched, causing a bit of discomfort from the various bruises he had suffered. The group finally walked over to the chests, and after a bit of pondering, Ravin started to use his stone on some of the chests. What they uncovered widened their eyes considerably, since they were filled with gold, gems of various sizes, and colors, some weapons, and other various expensive items.

There was simply too much to take, so the adventurers chose what valuables they wanted, trying to take as much as possible, without over burdening themselves. Among the valuables were several wands, each with inscriptions on them to trigger their uses, although the adventurers couldn’t possibly know what type of magic they possessed.

The group realized that they would have time afterwards to sort through all the valuables they had discovered. Once everyone had taken what they wanted, Erlic started to head toward the stairway, with the rest of the group following.

He carefully eyed the stairs, searching for any signs of traps, and finding nothing, he slowly made his way up the stairs, until he came upon the door. This he checked carefully, looking for any signs of traps that someone might have placed on it. Why anyone would bother to place traps in an area that was situated beneath a temple he couldn’t fathom, but decided to be careful nonetheless.

Erlic tried to open the door only to find it locked. He pulled out his lock picking tools, and within moments had the door unlocked. He turned the handle, and opened the door. The room was at least thirty by thirty, and from the looks of it, was a very large bedroom, with a massive bed on one end of the wall, a dresser on the other wall, a very large tapestry covering the third wall, and a book shelf covering the last wall. Next to the tapestry was another door. Whoever lived here certainly enjoyed the comforts of luxury. Once they walked in, Erlic discovered another door next to the dresser. When he opened it, he found a luxurious bathroom with a sunken tub, and what appeared to be magical plumbing. The place was immaculate, and definitely fit for a king, so why was this under a temple? It was a good question.

Erlic came back out, and noticed Val examining the bookshelf. The guild master went over toward it, and discovered various books covering history, puppetry, woodcraft, magic, alchemy, chemistry, and an assortment of reference books. Erlic realized that he would have to return to gather some of these tomes for his own personal library at his home just outside Bizmar.

After examining the room for a while, the adventurers found nothing of interest. Erlic made his way toward the other door, and checked it for traps. As soon as he touched it, he went flying backwards, feeling an electric charge of sorts coursing through his body. Val immediately went over to the guild master who was somewhat groggy. After checking him out, the healer ascertained he would be fine.

Erlic shook his head as Val helped him to stand. “Let me handle this,” Ravin smiled as he went toward the door, using his stone just in case there was a secondary magical trap on it. Once it was dispelled, Ravin found the door locked, and quickly bent upon unlocking it. He turned toward the others, as they opened the door.

The room was quite large, and looked like a laboratory. There were shelves, some small, and some quite large, holding beakers, jars, puppets of various shapes, and sizes, and other laboratory equipment. The shelves encircled the room, with a very large workbench in the center of the room. The room was well lit, probably by magical means since there were no torches in the walls.

The group of adventurers carefully made their way, feeling very self-conscious, as if several eyes were watching them as they entered and passed the various sized puppets. Some of them looked so realistic it was quite uncanny, and the feeling managed to get under the skin of the adventurers.

“There’s something extremely wrong about this place,” Erlic stated while keeping his eyes moving at everything within the room. “It’s almost as if there’s someone watching us, I mean really watching us.”
