“I know you don’t want to reveal your magical abilities, but I hope I can rely on you if they’re needed,” Erlic whispered as he pulled Jade off to the side. She nodded, but Erlic was already laying out his plan to the others. She knew she would probably have to reveal herself, but decided not to worry about it. It had to happen sooner or later.

She waited with the others as Erlic toppled the stalagmite, sending it crashing onto the were-spider houses. She grinned. He certainly had some interesting weapons....

Suddenly were-spiders were pouring out of their homes to see what the commotion was about. Jade hurled a dagger at one of them, dropping it in its tracks. She wasn't so foolish as to think she could actually fight these things with her whip, but it did make a nice sling in a pinch, and she grabbed several stones, uncoiling her whip and hurling the rocks at the creatures. It wasn't very effective, though, and only served to enrage them.

She sighed. Obviously she would have to resort to magic. As Marz cried out for someone to take out the archers, she ran in, racing along the inside wall, keeping stalagmites between herself and the creatures. She saw Ravin dispatching one of the archers with a bow he'd retrieved from somewhere and motioned for him to get behind cover. Once he'd moved behind a building she took a small stick of what looked like charcoal from a pouch at her belt. She crushed it between her hands, rubbing them together. Then, palms together as if in prayer and arms outstretched she murmured, "Tama ta'gus!" and spread her hands wide. A wave of fire shot from her hands spreading out in the arc marked by her gestures. It seared most of the archers, burning them with an intensely hot fire (the charcoal stick had been a charm that enhanced the effect of her spell). They soon curled up on the ground, dead.

She made her way back toward the entrance but was stopped by a were-spider with a sword. It slashed at her and she dove out of the way. "Shit!" she muttered, and turned, hurling a lightbolt at the creature. Its guts fell out the hole she'd made in its belly and it fell to the ground, eventually ceasing to twitch as it died.

Finally she made it back to the cavern entrance and gave Erlic a grin. "Great fun now, darling," she said, wiping a smudge of were-spider blood from her cheek.
