Erlic didn’t expect Jade to kiss him back, but when she did, he was quite surprised. Perhaps it would have been better not to get up so quickly, but of course, there was the nature of the little building, and why anyone would want to place such a trap on it.

Both of them took to examining he library, and it was Jade who made the comment about a certain volume of forgotten lore that might interest him. When he spotted the tome on poison, he wondered just how much she actually knew about him, and did she actually witness something when he thought he had taken precautions. It didn’t necessarily bother him, but he preferred to keep his identity as much a secret as possible. Anyway, he could always state that he had always had a fancy for poisons, chemistry, and those related fields if anyone chanced to ask him.

He leafed through the tome, and found some excellent references to new, and obscure methods of using poison along with some new methods of distilling various poisons, and how to prolong their effects once exposed to the air.

Erlic quickly placed the book in his backpack, and turned to face Jade. “No,” he answered quite simply. “I’m not a mage in any sense, although I do enjoy the company of mages, especially those with no hair on their scalp.” He smiled as he made that last statement, and gave her a wink before returning to examine the various tomes.

He did, however, find an ancient book on torture, as well as one on herbs, which he quickly took as well. As he continued to explore, he also decided to grab a tome on ancient civilizations, ancient cultures, as well as one on ancient languages. However, the last tome he spotted really got him curious, especially since it was all about the Geomancers. He remembered how they had traveled to Neromba the first time, and tried to defeat an ancient group of mages with amazing powers, and abilities. The group was quite fortunate for leaving Neromba with their lives intact, with the exception of one of their traveling companions. Still they had made it out alive, and had learned a great deal about the ancient race. Hopefully there would be no future episodes involving them, at least he hoped not.

He turned to the exotic beauty, and smiled. “Perhaps since there is nothing left to see here, we should rest, and enjoy ourselves as much as possible.” Jade simply nodded, and the two of them inspected the rest of the building only to find nothing of value. Obviously it was the library that someone was trying to protect from unwanted eyes.

They stepped outside, and spotted the rest of the group enjoying themselves in the hot springs. Erlic moved to an area, and quickly placed his weapons in a heap. He pulled off his tunic, and his trousers, displaying a well muscled toned, and muscled body. He had worked hard, and continued to do so whenever he got the chance. His study of Yoga, and Tai Chi helped him regain his composure and focus whenever he was stressed out or extremely tense. It was probably that reason that he never really lost his temper. Years of training with the martial arts helped mold him into what he was. Of course his body was also covered with various scars that he received from various battles, reminding him that he was still a mortal, and could easily be killed.

He stepped into the water, and plunged his clothes inside the hot spring. The heat alone was able to disperse the blood from the clothing. The guild master happened to find some soap, and helped the clothes along so that he could place them on his weapons to dry. Finally he settled into the water, enjoying the calming effects it offered, as well as watching the others enjoying themselves.

He simply lay there, absorbing the heat into his body. He hadn’t realized just how tired he really was, but then again it had been a very long day.
