Jade eventually fell asleep on his shoulder after returning his kisses. She spoke of him being amazing, and he had to stop and think about that for a moment, since he didn’t consider himself amazing. He watched the still form of the exotic beauty curled up next to him, her breathing steady, and paced. He continued to caress her a bit more admiring her beauty.

He focused his attention on closing his eyes, and placing himself into a void between actual sleep, and actual awareness. It had been a difficult concept to learn, but his master drilled it into him, until he actually understood the concept. He could rest, while at the same time he could be aware of his surroundings. It was one of the many benefits of being a ninja, or an easterner for that matter. He could simply put himself into a form of suspended animation, and get the actual rest his body needed, while still being aware of the coming, and going of his surroundings.

It had saved his life many times, and on those tense nights when he had been in pursuit, it allowed him the added advantage he needed to overcome his adversaries.

For now his body rested, while his mind kept active. He had enjoyed this interlude with Jade, and it had made him quite peaceful, at least for the present. She had driven open the secret door of desires that had remained closed for such a long time, and he had to wonder why, and how she had managed to achieve that little feat. He would worry about it some other time, as his eyes closed, and his body went into a state of rest.
