Although Jade made the subtlest moves, the woman somehow constantly intrigued Erlic. Even something simple such as stroking his face with her finger made him feel at ease for some unknown reason. He had yet to feel this way about anyone, let alone someone from the female gender. And yet he found himself enjoying her administrations, no matter how brief they might last.

Ironically the absence of hair on her scalp did very little to deter his feelings for the woman. She was beautiful in an inner sense of way, had a most alluring smile, and had an attitude about her that simply delved into many curious areas without actually revealing what they were.

Erlic was now back in the open, and his normal self took over, with some minor alterations. He still was his cold, and calculating self, but whenever around Jade, it seemed she was the only one, with the exception of a few close friends, that managed to put an actual smile on his face regardless of the situation. He didn’t know how long this particular relation would last, and what would happen to her once everything had been founded. If she was a typical adventurer, she’d probably go her own way, and Erlic had the feeling he would miss her company very much.

But such thoughts were part of everyday life, and the guild master realized that everything couldn’t be perfect, or nearly perfect for that matter. He had spent his whole life being a loner, and he didn’t think it would be that difficult to resort back to that familiar world, although it would be hard, since his thoughts would probably be filled with the exotic woman.

Jade had the ability to tease him in just the right manner without actually teasing him. Her remark of which group she should travel with brought a smile to his face. Of course he wouldn’t object to her choice of groups, but hoped she would remain with him.

She excused herself momentarily as she grabbed Marz by the arm, and walked off a brief distant to speak with him. As she walked away, Erlic stared at the map that Ravin had, and finally decided who would go where. It would cut down the time needed to investigate the temples by splitting the group in two, and Erlic had to agree with Ravin it was a sound idea.

Erlic only shook his head when he spotted Tristan walking off to where Jade, and Marz where at, trying to figure out why they were speaking in private…and mainly why without him. He could only shake his head. It seemed that the two were getting very, very close. Such closeness, or too much of a closeness could sometimes suffocate a relationship, but that was something the two of them would have to learn on their own.

Jade didn’t seem too happy to see Tristan, and pulled Marz away even further. After a few moments, she finally returned back to where he was sitting, resuming her seat next to him, and slid her arm around him letting her fingertips brush along his sides. She had such a way about her that somehow managed to get his complete attention to whatever she was saying. Of course kissing his ears didn’t help since it only evoked a stronger, and deeper sensation within him. She started to relate the real reason she was here, and the book that she had been commissioned to find. From what she had described, the book had to be quite valuable to whoever had requested it.

“How fortunate for me to be here at the very time you are, too. It must be fate.” She exclaimed.

Erlic simply smiled at the exotic woman. “I am glad for your intervention, in more ways than one,” he stated, while smiling at her. It was true, he found some sort of deep interest in the mage, and one he really hadn’t had in a while. Perhaps, as she had stated, it was Fate that had brought them together. But he had to let realization set in as well. He didn’t know what would happen once she retrieved the book, and where she would travel off. He would simply enjoy the time they had while he could.

“I suggest we leave shortly,” Erlic stated for all to hear. “Marz, your group will take the temple three blocks east of here. My group will take the other temple west of here. The sooner we explore each of them, the sooner we can hopefully return with the prize for the Sheikh, as well as that for Kazabet.”

At least everyone would have that last cup of java before moving on. He refilled Jade’s cup, as well as his own before turning to her. “I do hope I’ll have the luxury of my lady’s company when we leave.”

He smiled at her, enjoying her closeness, and the comfortable feeling it brought to him.
