Having all voiced their agreement to stay and try to win the water creature's treasure by answering his question, Isobel, Jade, and Tia all turned to Laurel. The druidess did not look pleased. Isobel thought she looked as if she didn't really want to agree, but didn't want to be the one to cause all four of them to miss this opportunity. After a brief wait, Laurel merely nodded once.

Jade turned back to the water being, grinning. "All right, ya big drip. We'll answer your question!"

The women stood, waiting, as the water being rippled and shimmered. Finally it spoke. "Very well. If your answer is correct, the treasure is yours. If your answer is incorrect, you must choose who will pay the price."

Again the being rippled, then intoned:

"What force and strength cannot get through, I with a gentle touch can do.
And many in the street would stand, were I not a friend at hand.
What am I?"

It regarded the women impassively, waiting for their answer.

Isobel frowned, concentrating, her mouth moving slightly as she repeated the riddle to herself.

Jade turned to the others, a look of excitement on her face. "Well... what do you think?"
