Marz was happy to see Tristan snap out of his depression a little. There wasn't any sense in dwelling on Eremis since they couldn't do anything about him right now. His fate was in the hands of Dalo and others in Bizmar that might aid him in a rescue attempt once they learned where the healer was being held. Since Marz didn't know about the new, fast acting drug, Tazreen, he believed they had three days before Eremis would get addicted to the opium Tegol normally handed out. Hopefully, the youth would be found before then, and returned to the safety of the Medieval Tavern.

As they headed toward the kitchen, Marz kept a close eye on a wobbly Corum. He was ready to catch his friend if he collapsed, but by the time they reached the kitchen Corum was a lot steadier. While the ex-gang leader looked around the room, Tristan was already busy pulling things out of cabinets. When the dragon placed a pot and a chuck of frozen meat on the counter and told him to do something with it Marz gave him an incredulous look. "That meat is frozen solid, you idiot. It'll take a couple of hours to cook!"

Marz rolled his eyes when his comment gained him nothing but a glare from his lover. He turned his attention to Corum, who was tossing small bags of vegetables on the counter. After retrieving a couple of sharp, knives Marz handed them to Tristan and Corum. "You peal the skins off the potatoes," he said to the dragon before turning to the skull-staff wielder. "You and Yorik get to peal the carrots."

Ignoring the grumbling he heard coming from Tristan, Marz rummaged around in the magic cold box. A smile came to his face when he found a large, fully cooked ham. He cut a number of thick slices from it and placed them in a pan with a little water before tossing some chopped onions over them. While the ham slices heated, he put the frozen meat in the pot then filled it with water, added some spices, and set it on the stove. A little later, he would add the carrots and potatoes to the pot.

When Marz remembered that Tristan was basically a meat eater, he set the remaining chuck of the cooked ham before him then returned to the slices that simmered on the stove. Since the water had evaporated, he poured some wine over them for a little extra flavor.

After finding a few loaves of bread wrapped in some kind of preservative paper, he cut one up, setting the slices on a plate along with a bowl of lard he found in the cold box. "You ready to eat, Corum?" he asked, a moment later. Once he received an enthusiastic nod from his friend, he told him to bring the pot of java and cups to the table. Marz fixed two plates with seasoned ham, sliced tomatoes, and some pickles he found. He carried the food plates along with the one containing the bread to the table and took a seat next to Tristan. "We'll have that boiled beef roast later tonight," he said as he slid a plate to Corum.

Marz glanced at the mess on one side of the table created by Tristan, who left potato skins all over the place. Because the mess irked him, he immediately went to clean it up, placing the pealed potatoes in a pot of water before they turned black. "You're suppose to peal that shit over a garbage can or some paper," he told the dragon after reclaiming his seat.

The ex-gang leader dug into his food, hoping it would help him regain some of the strength he lost to the energy sucking mage. "Did you guys see that girl with no hair? She looked kind of hot like that." When he felt Tristan stiffen beside him, he quickly amended him words. "I mean she just looked different is all. I've never been with a woman who was totally shaven before." He gulped down some java then met his lover's eyes. "Not that I want to be with a completely hairless woman."

Thinking it best to change the subject before he stuck his foot any further into his mouth, he glanced at Corum. "How's things going between you and Tia?" When the skull-staff wielder gave him a blank look, he turned back to Tristan. "You and Tia spent some time together in the tent while I was unconscious. Did she say anything about Corum? Do you think he might have a chance with her?"
