Subject: Getting to know you... a little (READ THIS ONE!)
In reply to: Ravin 's message, "You do good work" on 14:09:31 01/31/02 Thu

Isobel caught the strange look on Ravin's face. He looked flushed and seemed to be having trouble thinking straight. "There's certainly some interesting vegetation growing around here, don't you think?" he asked her. She looked at him, concerned that perhaps he was suffering from sunstroke or had sustained some injury during his battle with the assassins.

"Si, Seņor Ravin, it is um... most green."

He reached for his flask, brushing her hip with his hand, and stammered an apology. "There is no need to apologize for touching me, Ravin. It is not as if you were pawing me," she said, and when he blushed she suddenly realized what might be the problem. She looked down. Her top was askew and her pantalones ripped up to the thigh. You are exposing yourself to the world, idiot girl! No wonder he does not want to look at you. He probably thinks you look like a puta!

Ravin suddenly rushed off to do something, telling her to stay and rest her leg. As if she were some invalid! Well... she did not feel like walking back to the fire just yet anyway. She adjusted her top, trying to cover her breasts a bit more decently. It was as if the material had shrunk after it had gotten wet. She was somewhat horrified to notice that the material appeared to be very shear and hoped certain parts of her anatomy were not visible to anyone else. She was still adjusting things when Ravin came back with her tea and herbs and the news that Marz would be fine. She was relieved to hear this. While she did not know Marz very well, she would be distressed if any of her companions were to meet with tragedy (except, perhaps, the disgusting Justin).

"Gracias, Ravin!" she said, looking up into his eyes as she took them. She had seen him naked from a distance, little more than an outline really, and again the curiosity pushed itself forward in her mind but she quickly squelched it, busying herself mixing the herbs into her tea as Ravin sat down on a nearby rock.

"So, do you have a husband or someone special waiting for you back home, Isobel?" He asked her.

She paused in her mixing, a little startled by the question. In all the time she had been in Neromba no one had asked her that. She sipped her tea thoughtfully and looked into the cup as she answered. "Not really. I... once had someone special to me but that was long ago and..." the image of Juan entwined with that other woman when Isobel had unwittingly walked in on them flashed through her mind. "It did not work out," she finished. She could feel her locket heavy against her skin and frowned.

Still looking into her cup (but occasionally glancing at Ravin when she did not think he would notice and feeling much like a silly schoolgirl because of it) she asked, "And you, Seņor Ravin? Do you have someone waiting at home?" Of course she had no way of knowing that this might be a painful subject, since no one had ever discussed Ravin's former wife in her presence.
