Once awake, Saras didn't think much about it. He woke up, and because Jeremy told him to, got up, happy to do be dry and warm. He trusted Jeremy and if Jeremy told him to do something, he thought he should. Jeremy wasn't his real master, the way Ravin was... but Saras considered him similar to one. He wanted to do what his friend said, and he wanted to make Jeremy as happy as possible.
Once seated at the fire, he ate with relish, not at all picky, and as if he were quite hungry. Food made him feel good and it was the one thing he thought that rivalled sleep for the amount of pleasure it could have. Eating filled the emptiness inside of him that was left by having no magic. He found that the more he ate, the more constant that it was, the feeling lessened, as if the food itself filled the empty spot. He was content to sit and eat and watch the humans around him as they engaged in their routine flirting, chatting and general behaviour. It was a curiosity to him because his people, the D'Jinn had no such social structure. There were no men or women, or friends or laughter. They simply slept, sharing minds as one, while waiting to be told who to serve. For Saras, awareness meant serving. He was supposed to be Ravin's, but found himself also wishing he could be what Jeremy wanted of him.
His confusion and general inexperience with the human world made understanding what Erlic was saying difficult. He in fact didn't get it. He knew that there were bad people, but it didn't make sense to him. Wanting and the desire for power was a foreign concept. He wanted his power, but only for what it could do for those he was supposed to take care of. For Ravin because Ravin held his flask, and for Jeremy, because Jeremy was his friend. He'd never really wanted anything, except maybe to be pretty, and to be admired for being a beautiful thing.
"...I don't understand..." he said quietly when Erlic had finished explaining the story of Tegol.
