Subject: Tryiing to cope with things

Once again Marz's eyes did a slow scan of the destruction in the area. "You have the ability to do all that," Tristan had told him. After dealing with Sistino, crimelords, gangs, and pimps, Marz appreciated the concept of power. He wanted to be powerful in order to frighten people and prevent them from ever trying to hurt him again. His eyes lingered on the funeral pyres burning in the distance. This was not the kind of power he had in mind. Rake the mages who thought to use him for their own bloody goals. He hoped they all burned in hell for a very long time.

Marz finally understood that he was a danger to those around him and would continue to be until the chakras were closed. The knowledge did not sit well with him at all. He knew he hadn't caused the destruction in the oasis, yet how could he not hold himself responsible? Obviously, the dark mage wouldn't have been able to cause such havoc without him and the massive energy he possessed. How much worse would things be the next time?

Suddenly, he wanted to pull Tristan into his arms and bury his face into his shoulder. He needed the comfort that only his lover could provide. Marz took a step back from the dragon instead because they were out in public and he couldn't bear the thought of feeling Tristan possibly tense up from his embrace.

He nodded when the dragon told him about the lightening bolt story. Although he understood the need for it, he didn't think it fair to lie to the others. Apparently, Erlic had been lying to their companions for nearly a year. And he kept the truth from me as well. All that time Marz had been guilt free, but now he knew the truth because of Tristan. He didn't know whether to thank the dragon for his honest or curse him for it.

"Well, at least I know now," he said, instead. "Knowing doesn't really do me much good though because it doesn't fix anything. I guess it's time to talk to Erlic about working on those……chakras a lot more."

With Tristan beside him, he headed toward his sensai, who was approaching the campfire. When Erlic said he had an announcement to make, Marz sighed and put the chakra discussion on hold once again. A frown crossed his face when Erlic began giving everyone a history lesson on Bizmar. Why the hell should their companions care about a city that was probably over a thousand miles away?

"The time has finally come for Tegol to die."

Erlic certainly gained his complete attention with that comment! The shocked look on Marz's face deepened when Erlic went on to explain the events that had transpired in Bizmar. "Oh yeah, it is definitely time for that asshole to die," he muttered, once his sensai fell silent.

Ravin leapt to his feet then. "I don't know how you got this information, nor do I care," he said, staring at the guildmaster. "What I would like to know is if there's a way you can get word back to someone in Bizmar immediately."

After a nod from Erlic, the thief related the details of his recent visions. "Send someone to check on the Rovers. If they're safe……" Ravin's voice caught. He pushed aside the thought of his family already being butchered by Tegol's men, and continued. "If they're safe, have them pack their wagons and leave the area for now. They are a proud people and might refuse therefore your messenger has to be persistent if need be!"

Ravin ran a shaky hand through his thick hair. Rarely, did the thief lose his composure, but he was definitely losing it now. "I need to know if my family is all right, Erlic." He stared at the guildmaster for a moment longer then turned and walked away from the campsite. Think Rue, think! he told himself as he made his way to the copse of trees surrounding the pond. What other information could Eremis provide Tegol with? If he could figure that out, they might be able to thwart any move the crimelord decided to make.

"I hope somebody checks on Jake," Marz said, after Ravin left the area. Of course he had no idea if the thief's visions were true or not, but it was better to be safe than sorry. He turned to face Tristan then. It was obvious that the dragon was very distraught over Ravin's vision of Eremis being molested. "Don't worry, Tris. He'll be all right." This was the first time that Marz ever blatantly lied to his lover.
