Subject: Revealing the current situation
In reply to: Argus 's message, "Surely you jest" on 19:31:08 02/07/02 Thu

Corum had watched as Jeremy huddled near Saras, and he was sorry that he had made any mention of him/her not being pretty. Hell, he didn’t know who, or what he/she was, so how could he possibly know? Anyway, he went up to Saras and apologized. Seeing that Jeremy had matters under control, Corum decided to start walking around.

Moments later he found himself watching a game being played by the centaurs. Not sure whether he should be there or not, he decided to take a closer look. After all, what could possibly happen? They’d simply tell him to leave.

That didn’t happen, and Corum wound up laughing with the other Centaurs, even though he had lost some of his money, once they tried to instruct him in the game they had been playing. Of course, Corum hadn’t lost either. All in all, he had a good time, and loved when he could take a good look at the woman centaur’s breasts when he had a chance. He simply loved this game.

However, after a while, he bid his new friends goodbye, and returned back to the camp, where he found Marz, Tristan, and the rest of the group. He poured himself some java, ate some food, and listened to the conversation between Laurel, and Argus. The more he listened to the guy, the more he understood him.

“Yo Barry,” Corum asked. “Did you ever hear of this place he comes from?”

Val had spent most of his time finding an empty pouch where he managed to stuff various food portions for Jamal, his injured falcon. He had also constructed a make shift pouch that he could simply open should the bird need to drink from. He was quite proud with his achievements, and finally made it back to the campsite, just in time to hear Isobel calling for him. He sat down, and held the bird in his arms, questioning Ravin if he needed help or not. It appeared that Laurel, had asked him if he had seen a vision, and the thief had replied in the affirmative. In either case, Val was there should anything happen to the man.

“I leave you to your thoughts, Erlic. I’m going swimming.”

And those were Laurel’s final words as she departed from the campsite. Erlic simply smiled as the woman left his side. There were obvious differences between he, and Laurel, and there was nothing he could really do to remedy the situation, at least for the moment. Laurel’s words struck home finally, and he believed he understood what she meant by him having displeased her several times.

He wasn’t much of a talker, choosing to philosophize most of the time. He wasn’t a socialite, and had usually never entered the socialite picture unless on some sort of mission as an assassin. His interaction with people was limited, and only when it came down to business was he able to actually open up, and that was rare when it did occur.

Erlic pondered the thought as he got up, and decided to take a walk, preparing the speech he was going to give once everyone was rested. He smiled as he realized he knew who, and what he was. Up till now, he wasn’t sorry about what he had become, or how he acted with other people. In fact, as far as he was concerned, he did quite nicely when he had to. Perhaps the chemistry between them wasn’t meant to be, and would only serve to make each individual despise the other, thus distancing them even further. He had no wishes to allow such a thing to happen. Laurel, at least in his own mind, was her own person, and he also, was his own person. The more he thought about it, the clearer the notion became. He would have to simply enjoy her company as a friend, and nothing else. Perhaps somewhere down the road of life, they might come to terms with each other, but until that happened, Erlic would simply remain the druid's friend. For now he wasn't going to make the first move, knowing full well his inability to read the signs of the opposite sex, and what they meant. Eventually he would learn, but for now, it was probably best that he remain as friend, and nothing more.

Somewhat satisfied with his answer, at least for the moment, he contemplated the current issue at hand. He was deeply grieved at knowing Dalo had gotten captured, and beaten simply because of the whim of a madman. Jake had suffered also, but more important, both men had been saved, and that in itself let him breathe a sigh of relief. The disturbing news of Eremis was a different matter altogether. He didn’t know what was happening with the young healer, and had no idea what could be possibly taking place. What was important was the concern he felt for the rest of the group he currently traveled with. It really wasn’t their problem, but no matter how he looked at the predicament, they would, in some way, shape, or form, become involved, and that was something he wished he could avoid.

A good deal of time passed before he returned to the campsite, happy that everyone had gathered around the fire. He moved in closer as he heard Argus utter a comment. “Anyroad ay suppose ay'll 'uv ter come along with yew ter dis Twilight place, dun. Dese centas dun seem ter 'uv any idear wha ay'm gabbin' about. Not dat most o' yew lot do."

“You’d be surprised what most of this lot actually does or doesn’t understand,” Erlic announced as he came closer to the group. “But I’m glad you’re hear, as are the others. I have some news that I need to relate to everyone present.” He took a seat, and poured himself some java before commencing his explanations.

“First of all,” Erlic began. “There is no place by the name Kelkenney in this world that I know of. I’ve traveled most of the lands, and would have remembered both the names Kelkenney as well as Brytonland. So, I’m afraid, at least for he moment until we figure out how to get you back, that you’re stuck with us.”

With that out of the way, he turned to each individual as he looked at their faces. Slowly he took each one in, trying to gauge how they would react to the news he was about to break to them. Only Laurel had been close when Dalo had contacted him, and it seemed that she was affected by the news.

“For those of you not associated with the main city that we’ve come from, it’s called Bizmar. It is the collection pot for any thief, murderer, villain, that can’t find refuge anywhere else in the world. Bizmar is without any law as we would know it, and crime runs rampant in its street. It is basically ruled by the two crime lords of the city, Donal, and Tegol.

The time has finally come for Tegol to die.” At this comment Ravin raised his head wondering just what Erlic was getting at. “Konet’s gang,” Erlic continued explaining to those about the gang leaders that also wreaked havoc in the city, “managed to get Jake to tell him that Marz was alive in Neromba, and that Nydalis was hidden away somewhere.” He explained who the man was to the group. “Well, they managed to kidnap Jake, and with the news the youth had given them, managed to get their hands on Dalo as well, who was severely beaten. Some of the group at the tavern managed to rescue Dalo, and that would normally be the end of that. Unfortunately Jake, under the threat of having his eyes picked out, informed them of Eremis as well, and the youth has not been seen since. I did, however, find out that Eremis is still alive, but I’m afraid he’s in the hands of Tegol. And that means only one thing,” Erlic paused and took a sip of the java before continuing. “Tegol had Marz working for him, and Marz decided to leave his establishment of crime, and become my student. Unfortunately, Tegol didn’t like that, and now considers Marz to be one of his enemies, and wants him back, one way or another. Because of that, he thinks that I’m the crime lord that is currently residing, and working out of the Medieval Tavern. How, or why Tegol thinks this is beside me, but he has it in his head that I’m behind everything, and would like nothing more than to have me killed.”

Erlic paused once again, taking another sip of the java before resting his gaze on Ravin. “And finally, it seems that if he does in fact have Eremis, then we are in grave danger. Normally it would simply be myself, Marz, and Ravin, that would face this threat, but since Eremis had traveled with us, chances are very good that Tegol now knows that information, especially the last place we came from, which was Queen Kazabet’s castle. Eremis also knew Ravin, which if Tegol is smart enough, will keep the youth alive long enough to get his hands on the man as well. Ravin has managed to thwart Tegol at every turn, and has become very much a thorn in the crime lord’s side.”

The news was out, and it was only a matter of how the rest of the group would take the information. “Eremis traveled with most of us, and it would be quite easy for him to describe us to his tormentors. We’ll have to be much more careful from now on considering Tegol will stop at nothing to get at the three of us. I highly doubt he’ll care about the others, but his main concern would be Marz, myself, and Ravin.”

The guild master paused again, trying to gauge his words as he continued to look at everyone there, making eye contact with all of them. “This threat, as I have stated is aimed at three people. I don’t know what he has planned for us, but my concern is for the welfare of the rest of this group, that never had any involvements with Tegol. What you decide to do is your decision, and I for one, will not hold that decision against you. But should you decide to side with us, be forewarned to expect the most amount of trouble, and trickery imaginable. Tegol has some good men working under his command, and that in itself, makes the man extremely dangerous……to each….and everyone…of you.”

Erlic realized there would be many questions being asked. He remained quiet while he let the rest of the group digest the information.
