Subject: They were just sandals

"No, I'll yell for my captors to come shove me back in here... of course I'll keep quiet! Now get me out of here!"

Erlic hid his smile at the unusual, and exotic looking woman who had been captured by the Sharm, and shackled to the wall. He wondered about the shackle, and tried to formulate in his mind what possible reason the Sharm could have for doing so. Couldn’t they have simply just locked her in the cell?

His thoughts were interrupted as Tristan gave him a look. “You’re such a dammed hard-ass sometimes,” the dragon stated as he slammed a rock against the lock of the prisoner’s cell. Erlic simply gave the dragon a glare. The main reason for trying to keep everyone quiet was so as not to arouse any more Sharm, and Erlic was sure there were still more of the priests either in the streets, or hiding somewhere within the towers. It was obvious that Ravin thought the same way. They had entered the tower trying to be as quiet as possible, and here Tristan basically sounded an alarm for all the Sharm to be notified of their whereabouts.

Erlic simply shook his head as Tristan wrapped his cloak around the woman, and Ravin walked in to remove the shackle, as well as introducing his friends to her. She spoke excellent common, which meant she was knowledgeable, or she wasn’t from Neromba. Time would only tell.

“Perhaps we should move out to the center of the tower,” Erlic stated. “This way, if there are any further interruptions, we’ll be able to handle them easily.” He nodded to the newcomer as he moved aside to let her pass. He stopped by Val, and asked him to make sure that Corum was going to be fine. The healer merely nodded, waiting for Corum to waken. Erlic then made his way out to the center of the tower. He looked around, and then shifted his gaze to the surrounding walls. This would make a good command post while they were in the city. If nothing else, they would be able to rest inside an area that hadn’t fallen into ruins.

There is no pain, you are receding. A distant ship smoke on the horizon. You're only coming through in waves. Your lips move, but I can't hear what you're saying. When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone. I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone, and I've become comfortably numb
.

There was this haze, and Corum looked at it for a while. He knew where he was at, and didn’t feel like returning just yet, although he was sure someone would be worried about him. He had just finished a long talk with his mentor Yorik. That scene by itself confused Corum since he knew his mentor was long dead, and he had taken his namesake, and named his staff after his teacher.

The two of them conversed for a long time, and it seemed that his teacher was very proud of him. For what he really wasn’t too sure, but his mentor simply smiled, and told him not to worry. Corum told his mentor everything that had transpired from the time he left the village up to the present. For some reason, Yorik seemed quite impressed with how far the youth had gotten.

“Now listen Corum,” Yorik started to say. “It is most important that your understand what I’m about to tell…..”

A fog enveloped Corum, and he could no longer hear his mentor. In fact, he tried to look around and noticed that everything had gone dark on him. His body felt like it was being pulled in a direction, and the next thing that happened to him was that he must have hit a wall for his head started hurting like crazy. He opened his eyes slowly, and spotted Val staring at him. Corum’s eyes shifted back and forth trying to remember what had happened.

“Yo dude!” Marz called out when he saw his friend awaken. “You all right?”

“Ouch,” Corum mumbled. “I…didn’t think that sandals could provide such a kick. Gotta stay away from sandals.” It was obvious that Corum was still a bit addle brained, well, maybe more so than normal, and was still a bit groggy from the concussions he had received. Valhorek poured some water into a cup, and mixed some herbs into it. He helped the youth drink the terrible tasting medicine before doing another observation on him.

“Val,” Corum muttered. “This stuff stinks to high heaven. Don’t you have anything else that tastes good?”

Valhorek didn’t bother to answer. He simply told Corum to remain still for a moment longer so the herbs could take affect.

“Hey Marz,” Corum stated. “I had a dream about a naked woman, with no hair. Weird.”

Valhorek smiled as he finally helped Corum to a sitting position.

“WHOA!!!!!!” Corum interjected. “Can you like stop the room from spinning a little? I’m getting awfully dizzy.” Eventually, however, the room did actually slow down. “Thanks Val,” Corum stated as he stared at the ground. “Hey guys,” he greeted Brat, and Eyes. “Those things didn’t hurt you did they?” The little creatures emitted some sounds, and Corum basically nodded his head, very slowly, telling them he understood.

“So, like, where are we?” the youth asked.
