In reply to: Jeremy 's message, "How about some music?" on 12:46:55 01/30/02 Wed

Saras yelped when he heard sound coming from the earphones. His hands had flown up to his ears, but stopped before he could pull the earphones out. Once the initial shock of noise took over, he heard song and voices, and his eyes grew wide with surprise. "I bet none of your other masters had one of these!"

no!….nothing like this! he thought. One hand drifted down and covered his mouth while he stared at the little box that the music was coming from. Gingerly he touched it with a finger and looked at it, tilting his head, his eyes completely confused, but also amazed.

Part of the reason Saras lavished attention on his body, was because he didn’t have one in his own sleeping state. He’d been picking at his plate of food, finding that it was tasty and helped with the sickness he had been suffering from. He wondered if it were as simple as that. If food could make him feel better after the magic incidents. It certainly seemed the case, although he wasn’t quite sure if it should be as simple as that. Nothing was that simple, Saras had learnt. Least of all in this human world. He wondered if it was maybe just because the tasty food made him feel better because it distracted him from his problems.

"Hey! Can you show that dreaming stuff the way you showed it to your previous master?"

Saras hesitated. He pulled the other earphone out of his ear and held it, looking at the small black ear-nub. He had gotten into so much trouble last time. He had gotten himself stuck in a flask and stripped of magic! And yet, he did want to share it. Jeremy had been his friend since he’d come here, keeping him company while everyone was off being involved in what they wanted. Sarosh hadn’t expected to make a friend so easily, but he had. He certainly didn’t blame everyone for being more interested in their business then him, since Sarosh was always more interested in himself then what was happening around him. He looked at Jeremy and then decided that since he was already being punished, how much worse could it be, if he infracted a second time.

Pushing the diskman aside Sarosh pulled himself to his knees and took a breath, trying to center his mind. “Ok… if you want.” He said, giving Jeremy a smile. Since Jeremy was already sitting comfortably, Saras moved up close, their faces so close their noses almost touched. One hand moving to rest on the side of the boy’s face.

“Look into my eyes.” Saras said, his voice just a little louder then a whisper. “Don’t blink and don’t look away. Just keep looking. You’ll know when your there…”

Even before Saras had finished speaking, Jeremy slumped forward, his eyes closing, as if he had suddenly fallen asleep. The genie caught him and held him close while sinking into his world. As he had much more practice, he didn’t loose his balance and was still partially aware of what was happening here. He was able to keep Jeremy from falling on the cold ground which would shock him awake again. The transition had to be smooth for it to work properly…

Once in touch with his world, it was like everything and everyone were connected. At the edges of his mind he could feel the others, and Jeremy. Sarosh might have explained it as swimming through water, except there was no water and there were no bodies to swim. Everything was simply consciousness, moving through consciousness. There were colours and sounds, but they were not really there, either as nothing really existed. It was hot, like fire, but also comfortable and didn’t burn. Finding Jeremy’s consciousness through the others was not difficult, although he felt that Jeremy was panicking a little. Not nearly as much as he had been expecting. Although this existence was so different from what was ‘real’ the boy seemed to be under control and not spinning wildly. Almost as if he had been here before. Sarosh ‘smiled’ and ‘stood’ close to Jeremy, as he beamed about his world. Their arrival had been quiet and Saras didn’t even know if they’d been noticed. He highly hoped not, since then he couldn’t be punished again. For just a moment, Jeremy was completely in tune with his thoughts and feelings and everything about him, as well as everyone else here, and vice versa. Although the memories and feelings and knowledge would fade when they returned, it was still exhilarating, and that would always stay with the boy, even if he later lost the words to describe it.

Since there was no need for words, Jeremy and Saras returned, simply knowingjust as Saras did, that they couldn’t stay there any longer otherwise they would begin to loose track of time. It was part of the reason staying ‘asleep’ for five hundred years between masters was not a problem. Time did not really exist here either, but the longer one stayed, the less one was aware of their physical body. Perhaps that was the reason they had gotten angry with him… perhaps it was somewhat dangerous for a human to be here, since they did have a physical, living body that needed tending to.

Once back, and awake, Saras tapped lightly on Jeremy’s cheek, ‘waking’ him up so to speak. “Well? What did you think?” Saras asked, his mind already filtering what he had experienced as being Jeremy.
