In reply to: Marz 's message, "A fight within a fight" on 19:07:01 01/04/02 Fri

Erlic had managed to finish off another of the mants, and as he turned around, he noticed that the enemy had now been defeated, but as he looked further, the defeat had suffered some casualties. He immediately spotted Ravin leading Isobel towards Valhorek. It seemed the female fighter had suffered what appeared to be a severe injury to her leg.

All in all it wasn’t too bad of a fight, and Erlic realized that he had to explain the reasoning behind Marz’s unusual behavior to Ravin, and probably the others. It was inevitable, and the assassin hoped it wouldn’t come to this. Had his student simply practiced the meditation only, Erlic would have been able to gauge Marz’s reaction to being subjected to the first Chakra. But unfortunately the best-laid plans never went accordingly, and now the rest of the group was probably wondering what had gotten into Marz.

Erlic was about to head towards Ravin when he spotted Barry unleash a swarm of roaches all over Marz’s head. Immediately they started to burrow into his hair, and beneath his clothing. At first the guild master thought it somewhat amusing, but his laughter suddenly passed, realizing that in Marz’s current condition, the youth wouldn’t take lightly to such an attack.

He was ready to seek Marz out when he watched as the youth started to chase Barry around. Soon, his student was in a heated conversation with Justin, and from all outward appearances it was inevitable that a fight would soon ensue. Erlic quickly shook his head, and started to walk toward the two as he watched Justin deliver a blow that stunned Marz. He had seen the youth take punches before, but never did his student react so severely to a single blow. Marz’s reaction by spitting out blood only confirmed Erlic’s thoughts that Justin was fighting unfairly.

He quickly crossed the distance between him, and the two combatants, only to see Marz holding Justin’s hand away from him, and as Erlic got closer, he noticed the razor blade in Justin’s hand. Justin managed to deliver another blow that rendered Marz unconscious. The merc was about to take another step toward the youth when Erlic arrived. The assassin immediately grabbed the man’s arm, and disengaged the razor. He pulled, and twisted the man’s hand to one side while side stepping, and flipped the merc where he landed on his back so quickly that Justin didn’t have time to react. Immediately Erlic was in a kneeling position, and had the razor at his throat.

“I don’t want fighting between anyone in the group,” the assassin said in a cold, and deadly voice. “If you are to fight at all, I suggest you learn to fight fairly. The boy threw down his weapon, and yet you managed to pull out a razor, and…” Erlic’s gaze went to the merc’s right hand where he spotted the brass knuckles. “And, brass knuckles. I thought, for merely a moment, that being a merc, and being somewhat more knowledgeable, and wiser than the youth, you would have more sense. But I see that you’re mentality is no better than that of a roach. I catch you fighting unfairly with anyone in the group again, I’ll personally cut your throat.”

With that Erlic rose to a standing position, and threw the razor at the man’s feet. He eyed the man warily, watching as he removed his brass knuckles. “He started it all,” Justin blared out.

“That’s right,” Erlic agreed. “He did. However, he did drop his own weapon, and was ready to combat you with fisticuffs. You, on the other hand had other motives. Now go cool off, and consider using your skills on more important matters, such as the assassins that might be hunting us.”

The merc gave the guild master a snarl before getting up, and turning away. Erlic waited before the merc was a good distance before tending to Marz. Fortunately, the second blow to Marz wasn’t as severe as the first. Erlic made sure he poured calming thoughts into Marz to lessen the youth’s anger before reviving him. Once the youth regained consciousness, Erlic ceased his calming. Marz started to curse, promising to kill Justin when Erlic interjected. “Marz,” he stated in a firm voice. “I need your help. Let’s get you to Val first, and we’ll take it from there.”

The fact that Erlic wanted Marz’s help stunned the youth, and he was too flabbergasted to react, rather, he allowed Erlic to help him up, and lead him toward Val, picking up his used shurikens, and daggers along the way, along with any other weapons he spotted. Marz stopped his teacher when they reached an unconscious Tristan.

Valhorek was alerted by Ravin as he escorted an injured Isobel toward him. Fortunately the fighting had died down, and he was able to concentrate his efforts on the injured woman. He laid Isobel down, and checked out her injuries. The area around the leg was quite deep, and Valhorek realized he would have to use stitches. He cleaned off the area, and told the fighter that she would be feeling some discomfort. He sprinkled some of the white powder over the wound, which immediately started to fizzle, and to Isobel, probably burn considerably. Once he was satisfied the powder had done its work, Val immediately applied the salve that would numb the area around the wound so that he could suture it closed. Carefully, and slowly, he stitched the wound closed, applied a salve to prevent further infection, and then wrapped clean white bandages around the area.

“It’ll hurt for a while,” Val explained to the female fighter. “So I suggest you try not to put too much pressure on it if at all possible. I realize we’re in the middle of nowhere, and my suggestions might not come to play, but try to be as careful as you can. See me this night to examine it further.”

He smiled at the woman, and helped her to a sitting position.

When Marz, and Erlic arrived by Tristan they decided to drag him over to where Val was. Neither one knew what had happened to him, and it was best that Val take a look at the dragon before they ventured any further.

There were some minor injuries Tristan had suffered, but were of no consequence according to Val. He patched up the dragon, and made sure not to use any of the herbs or concoctions on Tristan, for he remembered the reaction the dragon had suffered from just one of his potions. Valhorek finished off by applying clean bandages to the dragon’s injuries.

Erlic meanwhile was scanning the horizon looking for any tell tale signs of anyone following them. If their followers were indeed the elite assassins as he suspected, then there would be no signs of them…..until it was much too late. He would have preferred to leave as quickly as possible, but some of the injuries the group had sustained would prevent them from leaving right away.

“We rest for an hour before continuing,” was all that Erlic would say as he continued to scan the area from where they came.
