The smiled faded from Ravin's lips when the kerchief caught on fire. Immediately he dropped the cloth then looked around, thinking this a trick of the assassins or some nearby mage. When he saw no one or nothing out of the ordinary, he turned his eyes back to the small fire that raged near his boots.

Ravin took a step back, his hand flying to the hilt of his sword when the sand around him began to swirl. What madness is this? he wondered, as something began to take shape before him. To say that the mostly human form that finally presented itself stunned him, would be putting it mildly. He stood there, paralyzed to the spot gaping at whatever it was. One minute he thought it to be a female, but the next instant he was certain it was a man. Or was he?

The thief blinked a few times. Perhaps the Nerombian ale he had been sipping at was more potent than he thought. He shook his head. Strong Rover moonshine never gave him hallucinations like this! Sunstroke his mind screamed. He had heard stories of the mind playing tricks on a person if they were out in the hot sun too long.

"Well?" the unisex creature asked. "I suppose I should make this clear. You've found me, I'm D'Jinn, but you're in for a disappointment. Make a wish, and you'll see what I mean."

Sweet god of stealth, it talks! Ravin took another step back, his hand tightening about his hilt, simply because his empathy couldn't sense anything about this thing……creature……person….GENIE! Yes, this must be one of the fabled genies that were said to live within Neromba. Although Ravin had heard of them, he had never seen one before. And the one he looked upon now nearly blinded him with the confusion of color that surrounded it like a rainbow gone mad!

"Where did you put my lamp? Did you finish cleaning it, because I won't live in filth..."

"Lamp?" Ravin asked, when he finally found his voice. "I have no lamp. The only thing I was cleaning was this flask I found." The genie didn't look too happy about that revelation, his eyes narrowing slightly when Ravin held up the item for him to see. Thinking it might be a good idea to get his mind off the flask, the thief decided to introduce himself.

"I'm Ravin Rue, from the nation of Loris. I'm visiting Neromba with some friends of mine." He waved a hand toward the tents that made up the Jann camp. When he noticed a slight look of impatience on the genie's face, he realized he might be waiting for him to make that wish he mentioned earlier. "About the only thing I'd wish for at the moment is a good glass of Rover whiskey," he said with a shrug. "By the way, what did you say your name was, and how……why……where did you come from? And if you don't mind me asking, are you a man or a woman…..or something in between?"

Ravin couldn't remember the last time he felt so damned confused. While waiting for some reply, he tried to gather his wits about him so the genie wouldn't think he was a complete idiot.
