In reply to: Ravin 's message, "You call this luck?" on 16:03:42 01/11/02 Fri

Sarosh stared at the man, his head slightly cocked. He wasn’t sure what to think, but something told him he didn’t dislike this man. Sarosh tended to be moody and demanding, but he didn’t dislike all that many people. In fact, his dealings with people had been what gotten him confined in a dirty old flask! He eyed the flask for a moment more, somewhat embittered that they would stick him in one of those. Of all things! They could have stuck me in a NICE flask, or even an old lamp! It isn’t like there aren’t an abundance of cheap old lamps… A Flask. How insulting.

When the man spoke (His heart rejoiced that this one could indeed speak!) he turned his attention from the flask and looked him over again. He was indeed a foreigner, or visitor as he had put it, but he didn’t seem to be the treasure hunting sort. At least, he hadn’t been hunting For Genie’s, which sat well with Sarosh. Anyone who actively sough one of the D’Jinn either was foolish, or very very dangerous. Not that it would matter if they’d come across Sarosh… he was next to useless. It took a moment, but seeing the man’s eyes light up with understanding, he was sure that he was now aware of what stood before him.

Which was good. It would save time having to explain things. Which was especially good for this man, because Sarosh hated having to explain. (and then prove himself to disbelievers.) That would be especially tough right now, considering he didn’t have the power to prove himself.
And besides, tedious amounts of exposition would put him in a grumpy mood. And no one wanted that.

When the mortal made himself a wish, even the tiny one, spoken from his heart, Sarosh frowned, delicate eyebrows knitting together, wondering what on earth Rover Whisky was, and why he would want some. But, unfortunately for Ravin, Sarosh was not the sort of Genie that the man expected. There was that little matter of not having the magic to grant the wishes he was supposed to, that he was going to have to deal with. Although perhaps it could be put off for a while longer. It wasn’t that he wouldn’t give the man the world if that was he had desired it, he simply couldn’t. He couldn’t even create this Rover Whisky that he had brought up. Fire on the other hand… now that he could do…. The Genie heard the following request from Ravin, after mention of the mysterious Rover Whisky and felt his mood grow momentarily dark.

“I’m rather insulted, and a little bit hurt that you would have to ask.” The D’Jinn replied, letting the appropriate facial features melt onto his face, replacing the calculating one he‘d worn while looking Ravin over. He looked away from Ravin finally and looked up into the sky, his eyes blinking back what seemed to be tears, and glittered like liquid diamond. “I spent so long working on this body. It’s utterly perfect you know. That’s what I am. The embodiment of perfection. And None of you can appreciate that! The effort I put into it, for YOU mortals, too! …how ungrateful you are!”

Despite a very real annoyance with the man, he couldn’t help but snicker inwardly at his outward behaviour, and the reaction that it was getting. Sarosh decided that this man might prove to be highly entertaining. While his tantrums, (real and acted) didn’t work on everyone, when they did, it was extremely amusing.

His words, while arrogant in feel were not intended as gloating and to be held above someone. Rather thought of himself as a piece of jewellery. A pretty bauble to be displayed and appreciated simply because it was beautiful. He was not fully aware that often considering oneself as beautiful could cause problems.

“Just for that, No Rover Whisky for you. I refuse to grant that wish, Ravin Rue.”

It isn’t like I could if I wanted to, anyway.

“Now, if you want to get back into my good graces, You’re going to help me find something a little less…flashy to wear. Unless you want superstitious thieves and criminals trying to slit your throat to steal my Flask Oh. And I like Red. Something simple and light and good for traveling. My name is Saras. At least, that‘s what you may call me.” he added, giving Ravin a smile. If Ravin got ever got to know the Genie, he would know that despite his brattish behaviour, Sarosh had taken a liking to the man.
