Because his answer would only tick Tristan off, Marz decided to ignore the dragon's question of what he would do with someone in a cave. Hell, if he got three minutes alone with a beautiful woman, he would certainly make the best of it! What was the harm in fooling around a little anyway? His heart belonged to Tristan so there wasn't anything to worry about. If the dragon wanted to spend the night with someone else, Marz didn't think he'd mind. Sometimes a little variety was a good thing.

The only time Marz would object to Tristan going off with another was if he harbored feelings other than lust for the person. That was the reason he hated seeing him with Eremis. The dragon had admitted that the healer reminded him of someone he once loved, and that was rather disturbing. Marz was glad that Eremis wasn't around to participate in this game because he knew he'd fly into a jealous rage if the healer and the dragon ended up in one of the private caves.

When Tristan abruptly pulled away from him, Marz rolled his eyes. What the rake is wrong now? he wondered. He sighed when he saw the annoyed look on the dragon's face then took another drag from the funny smelling cigarette. Tristan was probably pissed that they hadn't gone off to work on the meditation exercises. "Too raking bad," Marz muttered. He was determined to have fun tonight, with or without Tristan!

He flicked the cigarette butt into the fire then turned his attention to Corum as he reclaimed his seat on the ground, with Barry floating over his shoulder. Hopefully, they could now get back to playing the damned game! He was surprised to see Tristan reach out to spin the dagger. Since when did the dragon get gutsy enough to take the initiative in such a game? A smile came to his face with the blade landed on Isobel. Lucky guy!

Before they could go off into the cave together, Erlic showed up with Tia and a downtrodden youth in tow. Marz was somewhat disappointed to learn that the boy was the missing son of the Padishah of Medina al-Afyal. Once they returned Alakbar to his father the crazy man wouldn't mistake Corum or Tristan for his son ever again. And there goes our free run of his palace! Marz still remembered the great time he had in the Padishah's harem after the man announced that Corum was his long lost son. Maybe if they became close friends with the real Alakbar, they'd continue to get the royal treatment whenever they visited Medina al-Afyal.

Marz drank more of the brandy while listening to Erlic talk about assassins. "Alakbar is with us now," he interjected, "and we'll keep him safe from any stupid assassins who think to try to take him back. You got nothing to worry about, sensai!"

Erlic gave him a look that said there was plenty to worry about, but Marz shrugged it off. "Let's get back to the raking game. Issy and Tris are up next for a get together in a cave." He took a sip from his jug then gave Isobel a smile. "Remember, you only get three minutes, so make the best of them, beautiful!"

*^*^*^*^*

As soon as Erlic mentioned assassins, Ravin set the jug of brandy aside. Suddenly, he no longer had the desire to get shit-faced tonight. It was best to keep a relatively clear head now because once the assassins discovered their prisoner missing they'd start hunting for him. The thought of being attacked by a bunch of cold-blooded killers was enough to help sober the thief up a little.

He went off to retrieve a pot of java and some clay cups from another campfire before sitting back down beside Laurel. After filling up one of the cups he took a drink of the strong liquid and stared into the fire. If Alakbar spoke the truth, they should have nothing to worry about tonight since the guards didn't visit the cells until late morning.

Ravin glanced at the cave that Valhorek had taken the youth into for an examination then turned his attention back to the game. "We might as well enjoy ourselves while we can," he whispered to Laurel. He had the feeling that this would be the last night of fun they'd have for a while. The thief was so busy thinking about assassins that he forgot it was Tristan and Isobel's turn to go into the cave. Without thinking he reached for the dagger lying on the ground and gave it a spin, wondering whom it would fall upon.
