Author: Ravin
Subject: Helping Tristan and Corum

Ravin was trying to figure out the meaning of his latest vision when Isobel grabbed his hand and yanked him to his feet. Luckily his good reflexes kept the java from spilling out of the cup he held in his other hand. Although Ravin wasn't meek by any means, he appeared so as he followed the exotic woman into the appointed cave. He tried not to grin at the nickname of shy one she tagged him with. It had a rather nice ring to it yet he preferred, shadow dweller, which many in the Rover tribe had taken to calling him over the years.

"Is this the mating cave?" Isobel asked, a hint of a smile playing on her face.

The thief took a sip of java while his eyes slowly panned the area. It certainly fit the criteria for romance. The cave seemed to be the perfect place to hold a rendezvous between lovers. Maybe one day he'd return here with a special woman at his side. He shook his head, doubting that he would ever fall in love again.

His brown eyes met Isobel's when she asked what they would do for their allotted three minutes. Immediately, he sensed her nervousness and tried to think of something to say that would help calm her down. While he was attempting to formulate some words of comfort she kept right on talking, hiding her own unease of the situation behind forced laughter.

"I was joking, Señor Ravin, do not worry," she said. "I am not blind... I see that you are not attracted to me. So... shall we talk then? I promise not to ravish you"

When she patted the furs next to her, he slowly approached and sat down. "Any man in his right mind would be a fool not to be attracted to someone as beautiful as you," he said, before setting his java cup on the ground. "I simply try not to allow such attractions to get the better of me is all. Unlike many men, I prefer thinking with my brain rather than my……." He laughed and ran a hand through his disheveled hair.

Ravin was more of a thinker than a talker, except when it came to fast-talking his way out of a nasty situation. His lack of conversational skills probably explained why he fell in love with Kyri. She was one woman who was never at a loss for words. He was content to sit back and listen to her rattle on for hours, the mere sound of her voice filling him with a warmth he would never know again.

After a sigh, he turned to face Isobel. "I apologize for being so quiet. My mind seems to be elsewhere at the moment. You see, I am sometimes plagued by visions that I don't understand, and recently had one that's left me feeling confused once again." He was about to tell her what he had seen but jumped to his feet instead when he heard screaming coming from somewhere nearby.

"It sounds like someone's in trouble," he said, rushing out of the cave with Isobel following close behind him. Ravin followed the sounds of the screams into the cave that Tristan and Marz had gone into earlier. When he neared the area housing the stream, his eyes widened in shock at the fifteen-foot monster he saw in the center of the water. A dozen tribal women stood off in a corner of the huge cave, crying and shouting out that the monster needed to feed on someone.

Tristan and Corum were in the water with the beast lashing out at the many tentacles that snaked out from the creature's bloated body. Since Ravin didn't know that Marz was being held underwater by the thing, he briefly wondered where the ex-gang leader had taken off to. Immediately, the thief procured his throwing knifes and lined them at the monstrosity. It bellowed in pain, or perhaps rage, when they sunk into its flesh then a tentacle whipped out quickly, pulling Corum's staff right out of his hands.

Ravin let two more daggers fly. When they embedded themselves into the tentacle holding Yorik the thing let the staff drop into the water. While Corum dove for his weapon, Ravin withdrew his sword and ran closer to the stream. He had to duck and swerve a number to times to avoid being grabbed by tentacles that reached out wildly, while he tried to stab at the creature, hoping to find a vulnerable area.
