Subject: Another quick lesson?
In reply to: Rowan and Tristan 's message, "The fun part's over" on 00:52:54 12/04/01 Tue

Shortly after all the Rocs landed, Ravin made his way to Jeremy to return the sword he dropped. Although the youth looked a little shaken, he grinned from ear to ear while staring at the retreating figure of Rowan. "He said that I did nice work," Jeremy chirped. "He wasn't even mad that I almost fell off the Roc!"

I'm sure he would have felt differently if you had hit the ground, Ravin thought with a grin. He handed the boy his sword then went off to join Laurel. Judging by the look on her face, she seemed to be a little upset over the brief exchange of words she shared with her brother only a moment before. Ravin didn't think too much of it since he was raised among a dozen adopted brothers and sisters, and was well aware of the teasing that went on between siblings.

"It looks like we'll be resting here for a little while," he said, after seeing Marz's heavily bandaged torso. His keen eyes shifted from Laurel to scan the area they found themselves in. A number of mountain ranges and what looked like wooded areas covered the distant landscape. He remembered Erlic telling him how barren the great desert of Neromba was. Obviously, they were now in one of the more fertile regions of the nation.

"You're an excellent archer," he said, his gaze falling upon Laurel once again. Ravin was fairly proficient with a bow because his brothers taught him how to use one for hunting purposes. He didn't really care for archery though, and never considered the bow as his weapon of choice. "I tried to get a couple of my sisters to learn archery, but they wanted nothing to do with it. They believe that it’s a man's job to hunt while a woman's task consists of cleaning and preparing whatever gets brought down by the man's arrow."

He laughed then shrugged. "That explains why I don't know a damn thing about cooking. My brothers and I were never allowed near the cook fires until it was time to eat." After a quick glance at the remaining vultures told him they were too busy gorging on the carcasses of the dead birds to pay any attention to them, he allowed himself to relax a little more.

"I guess we should make ourselves comfortable." With that said, he took a seat on the ground and pulled forth his ale flask. He took a sip then unsheathed one of his many daggers. His brow furrowed in concentration when he tried to remember the pattern of letters Laurel had traced on his palm earlier. Using the tip of his knife, he drew a rather haphazard looking R in the dirt. "How's this?" he asked, glancing up at the druidess. "That's an R right? I have to admit that I forgot what the rest of the letters are as well as how they are formed."
