Author: Ravin Rue
Subject: The thief and the druidess

Ravin turned at the sound of the skull's loud voice, grinning a moment later at what it had to say about Bessy. Well, maybe Barry was a little delusional about romancing an undead Roc, but at least he was able to provide some valuable information. So, we just tell the huge bags of bone what to do and they do it, huh? Well, that certainly sounded simple enough.

He chuckled when he saw Isobel blow Barry a kiss before she climbed aboard one of the Rocs. After a brief hesitation, he followed her example, scrambling onto the bird beside hers. Once he was seated on the creature's somewhat bony posterior, he held a hand out to Laurel. "Care to join me? Maybe you can tell me how to string a few letters together to make up a word while we ride along. With something like that to occupy our minds, the thirty mile trip shouldn't seem all that long."

A smile came to his face when Laurel accepted his offer. He helped her up to sit in front of him then glanced down for something to hold on to. Spotting a thick bone peering through the pieces of flesh that covered the thing, he latched onto it with his right hand while sliding his left arm around Laurel's waist. "I'm not trying to get fresh," he quickly explained. "Just trying to make sure we're both secured so neither of us falls off this creepy thing."

He brow furrowed in thought then he cleared his throat and spoke, hoping the Roc would understand him. "Take us to that mountain pass thirty miles from here that leads to the……genie garden." At least that's what he thought he overheard Marz tell Isobel at the breakfast meal.

Ravin tightened his grip on Laurel and braced himself when the undead creature lifted into the air. "Guess we'll meet the rest of you there," he called down to his companions before the Roc picked up speed.

Once they leveled off and were calmly flying through the air, Ravin loosened his hold on Laurel but didn't remove his arm. After a quick glance at the practically non-existent scenery that passed below them he relaxed a little. Luckily, he wasn't at all afraid of heights. "If it's not too difficult, I'd like to learn the names of the letters it takes to spell out my name," he said, leaning forward a bit to speak into Laurel's ear.
