Subject: What is it about this place?
In reply to: Sarra, Kandarin & Neramii 's message, "Re: Making acquaintances" on 20:08:20 11/21/01 Wed

Erlic had watched with rapt fascination at the appearance of one Isobel Maria Contadina Phillipa Manuela Esteban y Delgado. Erlic smiled inwardly at the name, for it reminded him of some of the Nerombian nobles whose name continued on, and on, and on, ad infinitum. The woman stood her ground, and Erlic continued to watch her as he did any stranger that came into their midst. He was not one to trust anyone, not the first, not the second, or the third time around. Whoever joined their group had to earn the respect of the group first. Winning his respect was a bit more complicated.

He didn’t miss the glaring she gave Marz when his student winked at her. It was quite obvious that no one got away with anything if she had any say so in the matter. He continued to watch her expression while Ravin introduced everyone within the group.

Eventually she took a seat next to Ravin, seeming a bit more relaxed, or so her appearance showed. Isobel had explained the incidents leading to her arrival at the city of Siwas. Erlic had been in Neromba before to understand how the magic in the land sometimes seemed inexplicable, and could relate with the young fighter. He was quite surprised that she had made it out alive of the ordeal, especially considering the attack by the sand worms, which usually left no survivors whatsoever.

But whatever the case, it seemed she was now here, and either she would leave of her own accord, or she would attempt to join the current group, which seemed to be growing as the days passed. Perhaps the city of Siwas was a sort of magnet that reached out into the four corners of the land, attracting any adventurer to its hub. Sarra had appeared out of nowhere, only to be accepted within their organization. And now, sometime later Isobel had appeared. Only Fate could possibly deem to understand the why’s, and how’s of how the magical land of Neromba operated. But whatever the case, Isobel was not amongst them, and he would see if she was true to her word or not.

“We are adventurers,” Erlic stated, pausing briefly to sip at his wine, while staring at her over the rim of the glass. “Perhaps you’re thirsty, and would care for a drink. Please, help yourself.” It would be totally rude, even on his part, not to offer some form of refreshment to someone that had been traveling the desert on what he presumed were limited rations. “If you are hungry simply partake of the offering in front of you. Most of us have already eaten.”

During this time Erlic had paid careful attention to everything about her. She wielded a large enough sword, and it appeared she knew fully how to wield it correctly. She had also revealed an interesting type of dagger, and Erlic was almost positive that if one was handy enough to get to, there could, and probably would be more of them.

“The reason we are here,” Erlic continued onward. “Is that as an adventurer, which I’m sure you are quite versed in, one must learn to travel to different, and unusual locations where one might learn new, and various interesting things about the area, not to mention the numerous awards that can surely follow.”

Now came the problem for the moment. Isobel could either leave, and return to whatever expedition she was supposed to go back to, or she could remain here, and join in their expedition. He took another sip of wine, and inwardly made the decision. “You are free to leave should you care to,” Erlic continued while still gazing at her. “Or, you can continue your journey with us. I will not guarantee that at every turn you’ll find treasures, or at every encounter the meetings won’t be fierce, but I can assure you that the members of this party are quite knowledgeable, and quite capable of handling the most trying of encounters.”

Well it was up to Isobel to make her decision. She had been on a caravan of her own choosing, and she could easily find a way back, whether it was by her own means, or with the help of Queen Kazabet. However the choice now remained with he dark haired fighter.

“So the choice is yours Isobel,” Erlic stated. He hoped that she wouldn’t be a menace, or had other devious plans that he wasn’t sure of. In either case, he would watch her to be on the safe side, not only for him, but for the rest of the adventurers as well. If she tried anything devious, which would involve the safety of the others, he would easily put an end to it, and have no qualms about the matter.

“You have by now,” Erlic stated. “Had the opportunity to view all of us in your own way, and possibly have come to your own conclusions about this group.”

**************

Valhorek looked at the newcomer, and was instantly worried that she might have suffered injuries during the attack. He was quite familiar with the monstrosities of the Nerombian land, and regardless whether she was friend or foe, would immediately offer his assistance if it was needed. He was a healer primarily, and a fighter secondly. He did, however, appreciate the woman’s looks, and from what he could determine, realized that she was well toned just by looking at her. And the way she had looked around trying to find a way out of her situation showed she had the knowledge of taking care of herself.

Once Erlic had finished with her, he would ask if she needed his assistance. He was, after all, a healer, and it was his job to make sure that everyone was in good health. One never knew what kind of encounters one would stumble upon during their travels in Neromba.

Valhorek was struck by the appearance of the one known as Neramii. She was…different, but how he couldn’t determine at the moment. It was quite obvious to him that this particular group was quite different by the norm of adventurers he had encountered. It was going to be interesting if nothing else.
