Subject: A much better episode !

I'm glad to see that my season 3 Fringe Rule still works: episodes that take place over there, in the red uinverse, are better than the ones from the blue 'verse.

"Immortality" wasn't the best of all, but compared to the previous episode that seemed to belong to poor season 1 (and soap opera genre!), this episode was really good.

And I just love the Fringe team from over there!

I love the relationship between Altliv and AltCharlie, the bug jokes, the way they are all comrades in arms. Lincoln's insecurity was nicely done (and after being burned he almost freezed!) and I like the chair scene in Broyles' office. I liked the first scene between Altiv and Frank, and its double-entendre, given that she indeed might be waiting for another boyfriend, and Frank even picked up on the phone that "she wasn't herself" when he called her weeks before(now that's a perceptive man!).

Speaking of Frank, I hope we haven't sene the end of him. I've seen speculations about his mother. Some fans think she could be AltNina. When he mentioned her as an obstacle I took it as a joke, but I guess it could be a clue. Too bad for Ourlivia that she didn't get to meet that hot boyfriend and enjoy 'the perfect' man. Oh and the red Verse knew Cheap trick!

Altliv's pregnancy wasn't that big a twist of course, but the whole thing was well done, and despite my bug phobia I enjoyed the A-plot. Again the theme of "experimenting" and "the lines we're willing to cross or not", was the leitmotiv of the episode.

There are the lines that scientists cross to make progress but Atliv crossed a line too: for her job, because she had been told it would help saving lives, she betrayed her companion, she fell into bed with another man and fell in love with "her mission".

This episode had a lot of scientists in it: Silva, our villain of the week who killed people for the greater good, to save lives, but finally decided to sacrifice himself, Frank the hero (and yes he is perfect, I LOVE his nose!), the nerdy entomologist girl who had a crush on Charlie, Brandon who's creepier and creepier, and of course Walternate who turned out to have a conscience and wasn't willing to cross the line that our Walter once crossed!

I hated watching the bugs, but I enjoyed the echoes the beetle storyline provided: similar and not quite the same, just like the characters from one or another universe. I wonder if the question of maturity coud apply too...

Also, concerning Silva's experiments, I wonder whether the title of the episode (besides the idea of immortality through legacy)and the beetle cloning are connected to the First People arc. Maybe Altliv's future baby means more than we think. Maybe Peter is a clone and she's actually the final host of another experiment Silva wasn't aware of, or the red queen of a resurrected species? Of course Walternate's smile and last words seemed to mean that he mostly considered the unborn child as his own legacy, a way to get immortality through blood line.

PS: After Doctor Jacoby's spectacles, Walternate's mistress was played by the Sheriff's mistress from Twin Peaks, Joan Chen (I hadn't seen her in ages)!

I'm still not sure Fauxlivia has real feelings for Peter. But I predicted a baby immediately after Peter fell into Fauxlivia's vagenda (btw... I got a copy of that album: Hidden Vagenda - but I haven't listened to it yet.).

Cars on the show had license plates APT6B and 285 KM. Victim #2 was 42 years old.

At Silva's Unit: his unit is number 21, double that and you get 42. Another 42 reference, as Fauxlivia lives in Apartment 21.

In Fauxlivia's Apartment - Two Photos of Steel Bridges - Similar to Broyles? OR was it Walternate.

Is Fauxlivia Drinking Water With a Slice of Lemon instead of wine. In "Over There Pt. 1" or "Over There Pt. 2", I can't recall which, Frank says something to Fauxlivia to the effect of "Now might be a good time to start drinking" and she replies "I would if I could just stand the taste." At the time, if memory serves, Frank was drinking red wine, just like in the scene from this episode. A container of Lemon slices at the counter in the Empire Docking Station? Maybe the water tastes bad in the redverse?

The people who cured Polio/Found DNA in our world also did it in their world.

Obrycki's Crab "Shack" "on the wharf in Annapolis". In our universe, Obrycki's Crab House is in downtown Baltimore. Has altBaltimore been ambered??

Nice detail: the bug is called "Mansohnium Boogliosis" or "the Skelter" beetle. Reference is to Vincent Bugliosi, who prosecuted Charles Manson, and wrote a book called "Helter Skelter" about it. That phrase was taken by Manson from the Beatles song, Helter Skelter; Manson said he got his ideas for a revolution of the black man from the song.

Found this::
Walternate's mistress, Reiko. Her name translates to 'balance child'. Rei is 'law, order, rule, balance' and ko means child. So... Japanese isn't easy; I know some, but I also know that the writers had to have done this on purpose.

Reiko/Josie Packard (Twin Peaks) might mean there will be some complicate cross plots (or do we have that already?). Also.... RE: Twin Peaks: First, John Noble as Walternate somewhat resembles Ray Wise as Leland Palmer; see:

Second, Walternate like Leland Palmer is devastated by the loss of a child.

And my computer has been running on the Net for 20 hours now! Only had 3 interruptions when the connection was lost but no freeze-ups on the computer... so ... HAPPY!!!

Bisell (bug victim #2) ordering cherry pie at the diner is another Twin Peaks reference.

Could Walternate's mistress be from another universe??

Maybe ours.... or maybe the Yellow-verse??

Might she have been another of Walter's Cortexiphan kids?? And now the US government has sent her into the Redverse to seduce Walternate?!?!?

Well... maybe... !

Reiko could be a shapeshifter that Walternate is using for sex and whatever....

And I was too lazy to google it up!

I have the feeling that the Walternate/Reiko relationship is similar to Bell/Nina.

But it would be interesting if she were a shapeshifter indeed.

about John Noble sorta looking like Ray Wise. And Leland Palmer actually killed Laura! I wonder if Bob will show up...
I missed the cherry pie reference.

Speaking of music album, the episode made me want to listen to "I want you to want me" again. I loved that song when I was a kid (my sister owned the Cheap Trick album)!

It sounded to me like a country-fied version of the song.

It sounded slowler than the original version.

Can be a slang term describing a group of USAF (United States Air Force) airmen that were tricked into a job no one else wanted to do. Job such as close in support of Army ground troops (although the Air Force was originally the Army Air Corp).

ROMAD also can stand for "Rough on Mothers and Daughters - meaning Fauxlivia and her Lil'bit?
