She is a little too perfect, perhaps?
Only time will tell but like everything else around Holmes and Watson, you sometimes have to wonder about motivations.

I'm wondering if they are going to follow the Mary's storyline, I mean from the books.

Not sure. They've already changed a lot of things about the mythology. -- AS (after a rewatch...), Saturday, January 04, 01:10:20pm (d154-20-56-169.bchsia.telus.net/154.20.56.169)
I've not read the original stories for quite a while now, I am afraid some of my perceptions of the Sherlock mythos are heavily influenced by books and films over the past 30 years.
That being said, the scene where Sherlock "scans" Mary when John is hailing the cab is quite interesting. Unlike most of the people who Sherlock scans and dismisses with a few observations about their personal life, Mary has a lot going on. More than appears to meet the eye in fact, since among other observations, Sherlock sees "liar". We all lie a little every day (even the non sociopaths) but while most of the rest of Mary's bio goes past too fast to see, we can see that particular observation clearly.
John's kidnapping and near death was a test. Was it aimed at Sherlock or was it something else, perhaps a chance at making Sherlock trust Mary more?
Mycroft is fun, so "above" it all and yet forced to deal with both his "idiot" brother and getting his hands dirty. Mark seems to have a lot of fun with it and how great to be able to take what was a boring, unamusing character and breath new life into it??
Also, love the Holmes parental units. Not at all what any of us would have expected, I am sure.

According to Wikipedia... -- AurraSing, Saturday, January 04, 05:22:36pm (d154-20-56-169.bchsia.telus.net/154.20.56.169)
Mary (Morstan) Watson most likely died before the events of "The Empty House", which is the story that brought Holmes back after his long absence. So I am guessing that they have a reason for her introduction that goes well outside of any sort of conventional Sherlock Holmes canon.

Oh yes that's what I meant but I dind't want to spoil you!
Watson was already a widower in "The Adevnture of the Empty House" (and was already married in "The Final Problem"), so even though they changed the timeline for his marriage, I was wondering whether Mary would be killed off or not.

I am thinking yes, it's the how and why that should be interesting. -- AS, Saturday, January 04, 09:41:54pm (d154-20-56-169.bchsia.telus.net/154.20.56.169)
The fact she is so perfect and how/why she met John is the part that sticks out in this episode. Given the theme of tomorrow's ep and the fact we have an uber-villain in the background is the part that worries me, or shall I say means I worry about poor John yet again!

Mycroft is one of a kind! He is my favourite Holmes guy -- Chani, Saturday, January 04, 06:06:33pm (89-156-8-80.rev.numericable.fr/89.156.8.80)
And he got to say "elementary"!
