Date Posted: Sun, Nov 04 2012, 17:37:31 In reply to: tlcme 's message, "Help please" on Sun, Nov 04 2012, 8:36:08 I am very thankful that I did not get charged criminally for my brief episode of drug diversion back in 2000. The BON punished me plenty for that. Anyway, a couple of years ago, I was interviewed by an RN who not only had her license on probation but had served time in the women's prison in my state. The prison sentence was for meth and crack dealing. I can't imagine that this was not a felony conviction. Anyway, she was the nurse manager over a chemical dependency program run by a religious charity. She and her superiors did not much like me for some reason so I did not get the job. I always look up the license of any nurse with whom I interview, so I learned quite a few details on this one. In fact, this nurse had apparently been away from nursing for awhile because she had to take a refresher course (as I did). The really amazing thing was that she applied for reinstatement of her license while she was still in prison! I know this because some of the paperwork says that something to the effect that "a hearing on this case is impractical due to he fact that the applicant is incarcerated." !!! I offer this as an example of someone with an amazingly checkered past who attained a responsible nursing job. This is certainly not your run of the mill outcome but it does illustrate that it IS possible. Tlcme, I hope you are staying sober now because none of this really matters if you are going down the road of active addiction. ***HUGS*** to you tlcme. Let us know how it goes.
