Subject: The Letter

THE LETTER

She found the letter in her mailbox today.
As fear built up inside her, she couldn’t believe her eyes
As she read the bloody words, “I’ll kill you, you’ll pay!”
She ran to the phone, dialed 911 as she swallowed down her cries.

After she hung up the phone, she locked all the doors
The police where now on their way.
She sat by the phone devastated to the core
Praying, “Please God, make this stop, okay?”

When the police arrived they said, “Show us the letter.”
When she handed it to them she said, “This isn’t the first.
He follows me too and leaves threats on my computer.”
They said, “Someone will stay. Of all our cases, this isn’t the worst.”

As the night crept up, the telephone rung.
The cop answered and said, “hello?”
On the extension he heard, “Leave this house or I’ll cut off her tongue!”
He was shocked at the voice he did know.

He hung up the phone and ran up the stairs.
There she was, sitting with a twisted mind and knife in hand
Ready to write the next letter with flair.
All along, it was her who was her own firebrand.
