1. Name Katie Margaret Scott Carey

2. Character's nickname: Her dad called her Katiebug, and lots of times her friends call her Kate. Sometimes Jay calls her Angel, and that�s her favorite.

3. Sex: Female

4. Age: 17 (and a half!) when the book begins

5. Looks: Average height; waist length dark brown hair; green eyes; slightly olive skin tone; her T&A are larger than she�d like

6. Education: Dropped out of high school, but got her GED

7. Vocation/occupation: President and owner of Mackenzie-Scott Inc.; eventually lead singer for a band called Whistlepig

8. Status and money: Lots of family money from her mother�s side, and her dad was a self-made millionaire. You�d never know Katie had money, though, and she rarely tells anyone

9. Marital status: Eventually married to Jay Carey

10. Family, ethnicity: Parents were Mackenzie Scott and Barbara Stevens, married when Mac was 59 and Barbara was 17 and quickly realized the marriage was a mistake, but only after Barbara was pregnant with Katie. Barbara was a textbook Narcissist � she had nothing to do with Katie, leaving the child to be raised by Mac, who adored his daughter, and the housekeeper, Deloris who was the only real mother Katie had. Barbara committed suicide when Katie was 8. Mac died when Katie was 17. One brother, Mark, who was stillborn when Katie was 8 Her paternal grandparents, Archibald Scott and Katie MacKenzie were Scottish immigrants (came to America in the late 1880s), they died before Katie was born; Katie remembers her Stevens grandparents, but only vaguely � they both died within two months of each other when Katie was 5. No aunts and uncles on her mother�s side, but her dad had an older sister, Peggy, who Katie loves; two cousins, Tristan and Archibald, but since they�re both literally old enough to be her grandfathers she�s not close to them. Whew!

11. Diction/accents: Since she grew up in Birmingham, Alabama she has a Southern accent she�s never lost. After moving to London and being around no one but her British friends, she develops a slight British accent on top of it, which makes her interesting to listen to.

12. Relationships: Her best friend is Maureen Smith � they�re more like sisters than friends. Complicated friendship with Adam Greene � he thinks he loves her, but she knows she doesn�t love him the same way. Close friendships with Stephanie Glass, Stuart Brady and Nicky Majors. And the love of her life, Jay Carey.

13. Places (home, office, car, etc): Sold her father�s house in Birmingham after he died, so the first home she ever owns is the house she buys with Jay in the Berkshires after they�re married. Later owns a beach house in Malibu, California. Loves cars, but doesn�t own one til she moves to Malibu and buys a BMW 3-series

14. Possessions: Most of her possessions are things her parents owned, and she keeps the majority of them in storage. She has a Gibson 12-string guitar, lots of record albums, an obscene amount of clothes, and some jewelry that belonged to her mother and grandmother. Her most prized possessions are her wedding ring and the pendant Jay gave her.

15. Recreation/hobbies: Writing poetry that ends up as song lyrics, writing music, reading, cooking, gardening (even though she�s rubbish at growing things).

16. Obsessions: Jay

17. Beliefs: Live and let live.

18. Politics: She got turned off of politics while living in the Haight because of all the rhetoric on both sides. She studies candidates and makes up her own mind about who to vote for, no matter which party they�re from.

19. Sexual history: It�s the Age of Aquarius, and casual sex is not a big deal. She�s slept with a lot of men, but doesn�t attach any significance to it until she meets Jay. She remains faithful to him with the exception of one night when she has too much to drink and allows Jimmy Page to escort her back to the hotel.

20. Ambitions: With the feminist movement gaining steam she keeps her one big ambition to herself � she wants nothing more than to be a housewife. And she�s super pissed that the prevailing attitude about that is negative. So she keeps her mouth shut about it.

21. Religion: Raised Anglican, and though she only goes to church at Christmas, she considers herself a �good� Episcopalian

22. Superstitions: Is careful not to break a mirror and crosses herself when speaking of the dead � except for her mother

23. Fears: Fear of abandonment stemming from how her mother treated her. Scared witless by spiders, and is terrified driving over bridges

24. Attitudes: Very easy-going and accepting

25. Character flaws: Has some control issues and can be stubborn

26. Character strengths: Intensely loyal and very forgiving

27. Pets: Her dad was allergic to pet dander, so she never had one

28. Taste in books, music etc.: Rock and roll! Loves Harlequin romances and movies that star Katherine Hepburn

29. Journal entries: She kept a diary in her early teens, but hasn�t bothered since then

30. Correspondence: She and her aunt Peggy have a lively correspondence, and write long letters to each other

31. Food preferences: Always willing to try new foods. Favorites are good ol� American cheeseburgers and onion rings, Chinese, and Italian. Has a voracious sweet tooth

32. Handwriting: Very good handwriting!

33. Astrological sign: Capricorn; January 18

34. Talents: Music and singing, cooking, writing, has a knack for blending scents and colors for Maureen�s candles

I LOVE Katie. She's cool, down-to-earth. :-) Spiders and bridges...she has my fears. I loved the story and want to see it on the bookshelves - get moving on it. :-)
