It was in birth preparation course when at the end they did a bit of mental relaxin by playing music and telling a story (dream travelling it is called in germany). I usually don't really listen to the later part ;)
With the music I was at a beach thar didn't have sand but stones and I "saw" a beautyful red heartshaped stone under water. I picked it up and saw that it had a chipped corner that war already smoothed a bit and that the red that seemed so perfect under water was actually striped thith other coulors. Over the time I visualiesed that stone I came to notice that I liked it more and more the more imperfect details I saw, since they told a story of their own.
I couldn't find a way to put that story into words that were to my liking, but the image stuck with me for days and weeks, and I mulled it over and over till that poem emerged. The first two lines were found in the space of a day, the last took way longer. I ackually "found" them while doing houshold chores and jotted them down immidiatly.
It often seems to me that inspiration seeks me out and not the other way round and that is something I really like and treasur. I allways know when I have found a worthy image/emotion/inspiration, I just don't allways find the right words to do them justice. I have quite a few started poems in my book that still await their turn ;)
