My kids tried to drive me insane but found out it was such a short trip it was not worth the effort. I like LOF's resolve - leaving the store. It certainly sends a message. I am meaner than that. I tell them when they cry, "You can do better than that! Use your diaphram. Project your voice!" and I think they get it that I'll not cave in because of whining. I have dropped everything in LOF fashion, too. It certainly makes them think twice.

I like to try and crack them up with some lunacy if I can, but sometimes I am not in the mood. The hairy eyeball is usually suffient.

The very best for us is when I threaten them with this,
"You'd better straighten up or you'll end up like me."
