In the first scenario, unless we're dealing with the Trumps, average working people couldn't afford to go from $500 to nothing until the credit is paid up. That's simply not realistic. It would be unreasonable.

In the second scenario, it depends if NCP had the $2K to part with immediately. Again, assuming not, then I think reasonably, NCP should pay a certain sum, over and above the actual child support, taking into consideration what NCP can afford to part with without going homeless or starving.
