Subject: Am I just weird? Is it just me? Or does anyone else think $95 a MONTH for cosmetics is outrageous? (m)

local deejays today were discussing their wives' cosmetic budget. One said his wife spends $95 a MONTH on cosmetics. They thought that was high, but not outrageous. Then a listener called in to say to give the wives a break. She had just spent considered herself "very non-frou-frou" and had just spent $44 on TWO eyeliner pencils.

EGADS! I don't spend $44 on all my facial makeup combined! Last time I had to shop for makeup, I bought an eyeliner pencil that was $7.98. And I cringed at that, but I paid that much because I can't do Max Factor or Revlon or CG; I have to have Almay hypoallergenic stuff.

Am I the only one? That thinks this is too outrageous? My whole vanity supplies probably don’t equal $95 in a YEAR! Lets see maybe 2 eyeliners a year at $7.98. two eyeshadow combos a year at $6.99. One mascara at $8.99. Three foundations at 14.99. 4-5 powders at $5.99. 10-12 bottles of shampoo at $1.99. 12-15 bottles of conditioner at $4.99. Throw in hairspray and you've got what? , lol. About $225. For a whole YEAR of cosmetics. And this woman spends almost $1200! WOWSERS! (and I bet that estimate was low on her part .. to keep her dh from freaking! Lol)

The caller also said that she pays $60 for a haircut every 6 weeks. Okay, I know that short hair has to be cut more often, but I spend $15 2-3 times a year for a haircut. I spend about $150-175 every two years for a perm and highlights. So, in a year I average $125 a year.

Anyhoo .. just wanted to see what others thought.
