Yeah, so I'm really looking forward to that. I'll probably get it in hard cover as soon as it comes out.

You find it hard to believe it will be contained in one book? I don't. That seems to be FH's style. He doesn't spend that long on action, preferring to spend the pages with character interactions and philosophy.

I haven't seen anything to suggest that he ever intended it as more than one book. To continue would be to start something new, like GEoD and HoD did. In fact, if they make Dune 7 into a trilogy, I'll be forced to cease financial support for their enterprise, hopefully being able to find pirated copies of books I haven't bought yet -- not that it would make any difference.

I am glad that a sequel is finally being written, though I would be just as glad if it wasn't being written and the outline was to be released as it is (I hope it is anyway). I would probably be willing to sacrifice a testicle if it meant that Frank Herbert would be able to write the last book himself, but that's not going to happen. I wonder if a Ouija board could be used for something that big? lol, don't try; those things are evil.

There just seems to be a huge difference in the way the story is being approached by its new authors. Why aren't they spending any time on any single book? FH said of writing Dune, "...the interweaving of the many plot layers I had planned required a degree of concentration I had never before experienced." Yeah, and writing those six books took TWENTY YEARS of his life. Now, BH and KJA are coughing up one per year. I suppose it doesn't matter as much for the prequels; I just hope they put an effort into Dune 7 like THEY'VE never before experienced. The story deserves nothing less.

I suppose we'll all have to settle for an inferior style. Let's just hope that the story is not harmed too much. At least let them get rid of that infernal melodrama; that crap doesn't make me feel anything! Let the reader feel the emotions.

And yes, a Dune RPG would be great. Actually, there was one. You can thank Wizards of the Coast for killing it.
