I totally agree that Paul was a Mentat.
Also, I always thought that Paul came to the conclusion that Jessica was the Baron's daughter based on his mentat analysis of observations, including the motivations of the sisterhood and the bone structure apparent in Jessica's face.

The excerpt adds more proof to the argument that Paul did not have O.M. Nothing is stated about the BG breeding for a male who could access male memories!

As an aside, doesn't Kwisatz Haderach also mean "the shortening of the way" and "one who is closer to god"?
