Hi fellow Dunatics!
I first read Dune in 1991, when I was 17. I went on a one year foreign exchange trip to Germany, and borrowed my dad's copy of Dune to take with me. I loved it immediately, and that was good because for lack of other english books to read I proceeded to read it five times that year.
Didn't pick up any of the others until around 1995, when I got my hands on Dune Messiah and COD. I didn't get through COD at the time, I was just not ready to accept Paul's death, I think (sniff.) Flash forward to about three years ago, when I found the "House Atreides" in paperback, and devoured it. While I was waiting for "House Harkonnen" to come out in paperback, I read the rest of the series. This time, I absolutely loved it. I managed to wait for "HH" to come out in paperback, but the rest of my collection is going to be in hardcovers, methinks. I enjoy the Brian-Kevin collaborations, but the book I am really biting my fingernails over is Dune 7...I really hope that a good chunk of the book is Frank Herbert's writing.
I admire the Dune books for so many reasons...but I'll try not to be too verbose (for now anyway.)
