Personally I think that they changed too many things. They expanded on too many characters and small plotliens in the book that I don't even remember, which in turn added confusion to the movie, and basically screwed up the plot line.
Also, the "Golden Path" was something I thought was about expanding humankind so they didn't become extinct, since their explanation is shot down in the other books.
Then there's the actor who played Leto II. A good actor, yes, but wasn't true to the character in the book at all.
Ironically, they use the last line from the book about Ghanima saying Leto was always the stronger, when throughout the miniseries you get the impression that she's the stronger.
