As I recall from my early days on-line (using links, usenet and ftp only), it's also poor form to shout down or post a bunch of stupid drivel to push a troll back in the line. While technically it isn't, I think it's a lame attempt at censorship since it artificially creates a fake number of posts high up in line to sort of drown out the troll. Of course, when your time is very precious on-line (pre high band connections, like when 1400 baud was blazing fast), it was a huge waste of bandwidth, too. But even with a high speed connection, who wants to waste their time pouring over some lame repostings of rambling vapidity?
People reading this sight have enough intelligence to skip what they don't want to read, so why spend so much time and energy on it? Give your fellow readers a little credit.
Just ignore him!
