Thank you for sharing your thoughts, John. I trust you did so fully prepared to be excoriated, word for word, with as much incoherent gibberish as we have come to expect. I trust even more that you will remain characteristically unperturbed.
I am sorry this dismal, seemingly endless 'discourse' compelled your response, if only because its antagonist seems to perversely relish being the center of any attention, no matter how negative.
Worse, I sense in this individual a dark satisfaction, if not pleasure, in garnering attention from and consuming the energy of band members, above all. (as you said, playing right into the 'troll's' hands).
If this entity had actually listened to your craft for even 1/10th of the time it spent blasting you apart in every way conceivable, perhaps your peace, your understanding, and the unflappable reverence with which you share your gifts may have found its mark and lifted another heart.
Perhaps if this angry interloper were to read your recently published reflections on Jerry (which form the single most precise, definitive, comprehensive, and insightful statement on Jerry Garcia I have ever read (no kidding)), they may reconsider the cartoonish, superficial views they force on this forum, without relent.
I believe no one is beyond redemption. But yours is not the burden, nor is it ours, to sing our voices hoarse to those who choose to be deaf. That you nonetheless tried in such good faith speaks volumes of character.
Your sentiments come through in the same voice we can count on to sing us back home. In the same spirit that touched Tiff Garcia, as he stood behind you while you sang 2 Sundays ago. That made him turn to me, grappling a bit for words, to express what I already knew he felt.
His simple praise and approving nod made it clear in every way that, more than just on stage, he truly stands behind you.
And so do we.
Keep up the great work.
