Subject: Sorry Grigg, I meant to say most of your reviews are on my "read later" list as I don't want to spoil the surprises of The Raven/The Invisible Man's Hard On (That's assuming they have some surprises, the creaky bores!) Anyway, I liked your Bond reviews. Here's a good taste Grigg put-down: "About as menacing as a pair of trousers" Here's a bad taste Grigg put-down: "packs about as much punch as a quadraplegic boxer." What next from Grigg's new un-PC reviewing style I ask myself? "This film is about as exciting as an AIDs victim with no legs"; "My Beautiful Laundrette would have been great if it wasn't for the poofs in it"; "You know what ruins Spike Lee's films for me, don't you?" Right-wing reviews - I like it, it'll catch on!
In reply to: Griff 's message, "What, after you've ignored the last twenty posts I've done? You can fuck right off, mate! And I'd give From Russia With Love **1/2 if you must know! You know my reviewing style too well, you do - I do use phrases like creaky bore too much, don't I? Ah well, I can't help it if so many films are creaky bores. Anyway, I've slapped my capsule reviews of the first four Bonds in the secret clicker." on 14:47:13 06/21/01 Thu

  • On Her Majesty's Richard Branson Service - come on, Grigg, respond to the hidden abuse!!! Anyway, I thought of you twice at work today. One was to piss myself at "The Genius of Robert Zemeckis". The other was to suggest that we open out our "coming soon... but don't hold your breath" horror site. Because as we've now seen a few more Universal Horrors (12? 15?) it's starting to become obvious that we have nothing but contempt for these creaky bores. Oh, I always meant to say I love the font you use for the links btw. How about general horror? Whadda ya say? (NT) -- Rich, 18:52:38 06/21/01 Thu
  • Btw, Golden Web Award Winner Rich says that the fundamental flaw with Thunderbore (**) is that the first half is presented as a "how dunnit", with Bond uncovering clues as to how the villains stole those nuclear weapons... which would be fine if we hadn't been shown how they did it in the first five minutes! And I'm looking forward to Goldfinger next week as I work with someone who looks just like Oddjob so that'll give me an excuse to take the piss (not that I need an excuse for taking the piss...)
