after they talked to you the new mom freaked out. I have seen it happpen before. Maybe she got upset because her house was dirty or she hadn't had a bath or something. I will admit that when people wanted to come over after Paul was born I told everyone up front that it wasn't necessary to bring us meals because there were just too many of us to feed. I was upfront about it but there was still an older lady that came to our house and left food on the front porch. I felt awful about that and sent her a really nice thank-you card for all of her effort.

Sometimes people are weird.
