was going to pull the vinyl flooring out of her kitchen and lay in slate. I tried repeatedly to tell her she was nuts...nobody with children would want that surface in the kitchen! Tile is dangerous when it gets wet, it is too hard on the feet and hands of little kids, and it makes serious breakage a certainty.

If she goes ahead with tile I'd go buy some vinyl or a carpet remnant and put it down over it...just for the safety of the kids!

I can imagine this is making your life hell! What's your landlord saying about adjusting your rent? Are you getting next month free??? You should be, considering that you haven't been able to live there this month.

Hannah's birthday is Wednesday, isn't it? I thought it was the same day as my nephew's! Maureen's twins' birthday is the day before. I wonder what it is about the equinox...I sure know a lot of kids born within 24 hours of it!
