在聖誕節前的好幾天，朋友把一只紅色的「聖誕襪」掛在她三歲女兒的床頭。
每一晚，趁女兒睡着了，朋友就會悄悄的把一份聖誕禮物放入襪中，都是其他親友送來給她女兒的。女兒翌日醒來，發現原本空空的襪變得脹卜卜，自然喜上眉梢，馬上把禮物取出並拆開，全是各式玩具，就喜上加喜！
如是者進行了好幾天。聖誕前夕，朋友問女兒道：「知唔知啲禮物邊個送㗎？」
「聖誕老人囉！」女兒答得爽快，表示深信不疑。大家聽到這個故事，都會為小女孩的天真瀾漫而發出會心微笑。
每個聖誕傳統，都有其發源故事，如聖誕老人的起源啦、聖誕樹的意義啦等等，但這「聖誕禮襪」，卻從來沒有聽說過其起源。到底歷史上是哪位仁兄，最先把自己的襪子掛在床頭或火爐邊呢？又到底是哪位人士，無聊到把送人的禮物藏在對方的襪子中呢？真是無從稽考。
講起襪，卻很記得有一年聖誕，有位女同事為每位同工都準備了禮物；送給我的，赫然是一對襪子。我後來問她，為何會送襪子給我，她笑答曰：「『襪』輕情意重吖嘛！」
哈，我和她前後只共事了三個月，但這一句話卻令我深深記住，那雙襪子也着到而家！
