每次農曆新年煙花匯演，總會吸引到幾十萬市民到維港兩岸觀賞。今年官方估計的觀賞人數，是三十五萬人。換言之，煙花匯演可說是全港每年最多觀眾「入場」的娛樂節目。
試想想，紅館大約可容納一萬二千人，如今有沒有演唱會可以連開三十場以上？大球場座位四萬個，年中又有幾可會坐滿？
三十五萬人，只計算了兩岸街上的「普通位」而已。如果計埋一些「超等位」，包括：安坐於半山或西九豪宅家中的觀眾、在兩岸高廈曙U酒店訂了位的食客、於太平山頂或其他高地霸了好位的市民，以及包艇出海的近距離擁躉等等，這個「總入場人數」應該有四十萬以上吧。
在「普通位」看煙花，絕對是一件苦事。如果你要得到靠近海旁的好位子，非得在中午時份去霸位不可，一直在戶外呆等到晚上，足足八小時不能離場。沒有這種耐性的話，你就只好傍晚才到場，一出地鐵就遇上「人啊人」，在萬人之中緩緩地步向海旁，但最終一定見不到海和碼頭，只得人海和人頭。
但每年都有幾十萬人，為了看到那一剎璀燦，而願意去做這等苦事。也部A這就是「香港精神」的一種體現：辛苦唔緊要，最緊要有得風流！
