北京奧運公布吉祥物翌日，當地店舖隨即發售相關的紀念品；不少市民在店舖開門前，已在門外排晒大隊，以求率先入貨。有位師奶就花了八千多元，買了幾套吉祥物金幣。可見，北京已出現了「儲物族」。
一個社會必須先富庶起來，才會出現這種「儲物族」；若果人民連三壑@宿都成問題，又怎會有多餘錢和閒情逸致去買啥紀念品？
此外，「儲物族」所儲的東西愈是稀奇古怪，這個社會就愈是發達和富裕。儲紀念金幣、奧運紀念品只是「儲物族」的入門而已。在香港，早在八十年代就已出現儲金幣潮（十二生肖），後來又出現儲郵票熱。今時今日香港的「儲物族」，又在儲啲乜？
比較正路的，咪儲可樂嘢囉！我有位朋友，把自己的網名改做「可樂星」，就是一大「可樂迷」。
另一朋友，專儲「大富翁遊戲」，甚麼「《星戰》大富翁」、「《魔戒》大富翁」、「七十年代大富翁」等等，全是他的囊中物，絕對是一位「偽富翁」！
又有專儲首映戲票的、儲火柴盒車仔的、儲鹹蛋超人系列其中一隻怪獸「比蒙」的、儲唐老鴨的、儲袖口鈕的……多不勝「儲」！
