最近在書報攤上，又可見「紅書仔」湧現的盛況。
「紅書仔」初見於七、八十年代，當時只有兩三本而已。每年年尾，「紅書仔」就會在書報攤出版發售，通常以該書的作者大頭照做封面，年年如是，相當易認。
「瘦田冇人耕，耕開有人爭」，更何況，「紅書仔」的市場絕對是一塊肥田！當大家發覺，封面上的作者近照竟然一年比一年肥潤，就醒覺到「紅書仔」原來極之好賣！於是，釵h相關人士，都紛紛向「紅書仔」市場進軍。「紅書仔」由最初的幾本，已然發展到近年同時有幾十本應市！
在激烈競爭之下，搶先出版成為了重要促銷策略。以往，「紅書仔」到農曆年底才出版；後來，大家搶攻十一、十二月的市場；近幾年，九、十月已見「紅書仔」的蹤影，甚至有部分「紅書仔」在七、八月就有售！
除了搶先機，也要搶讀者注意。有幾本不再以紅色做封面，改用黃色、金色；有些大玩包裝，把作者化身為靚仔靚女；有些鬥專業，加入不同的技術分析。
但變來變去，「紅書仔」的本質不變；它們的暢銷，只由我們永恆的兩個字：八！卦！
