電影《Alexander》的中文譯名《亞歷山大帝》，無端端把「亞歷山大大帝」這個偉大的名號，強行減少一個「大」字，不知意欲為何。
如果負責譯名的人原意是想片名簡短些，大可以就此譯做《亞歷山大》嘛！只加個「帝」而不是「大帝」，可知人家亞歷山大為了這個「大帝」（the Great）的名銜，打生打死了幾多年？
譯者搞笑，但香港傳媒更搞笑。見過好些周刊，在介紹這套新片時，居然寫作《阿歷山大帝》。有更離譜者，居然同一篇文章之內，大題寫作《亞歷山大帝》，但內文全部用了《阿歷山大帝》；喂，一時「亞」、一時「阿」，到底係「亞」定「阿」？
雖然「亞歷山大」純粹是「Alexander」的音譯，但一向正式的譯名用字，都是用「亞」而不用「阿」的。不信，試試上網用 google 查查看，「亞歷山大」的搜尋結果有二十多萬項，而「阿歷山大」的結果不到一千項。所謂約定俗成，不必爭拗。
不過，香港人在「亞 / 阿」這兩個字的運用上，經常混淆。例如：該叫我「阿超」或「亞超」？我認為是前者，因為有本《阿Q正傳》嘛！
