昨日寫外國同事在公司「擎天」買「拿鐵」咖啡的趣事時，提到一個比喻，說在中式「擎天」買這些特色咖啡，好比在美國中部田納西州的所謂中國擬]叫一杯鐵觀音般，相當冒險。
美國田納西州我沒有去過，卻有位好朋友正住在那邊。這位 K 君原在美國西岸某名牌大學執教鞭，最近轉工去了田納西州另一所大學，主理一個研究所，發展不俗；但他卻要付出一個殘酷的代價──吃不到真正的中國食物、港式食品！
以往他任職西岸名校時，去三藩市唐人街多過我去旺角，蝦餃燒賣西多士菠蘿油等港式食物，從不缺糧。自從搬去田納西州的 Nashville 市，就再冇這支歌仔唱。
話說有日他嘗試光顧當地的中國擬]，堪稱奇遇。叫一客星洲炒米，一炒出來，居然是紅色的！再來一碟揚州炒飯，又是紅噹噹，倒像港式的西炒飯！一吃之下，都是茄汁味，方發覺這家中國擬]的大廚，居然是墨西哥人！
自此，K 君決定不再吃當地的中國菜，改為周末飛去紐約，一落機就 Call 唐人的士直驅法拉盛大快朵頤，全程都不必講英文！
