在購買新手表自用的時候，店員在調校好表帶長短後，總會問道：「係咪而家戴走呀？」
通常，我都會禁不住同意，把新表馬上戴在腕上，心想：「買新表梗係用來戴的啦！」而原本手腕上那枚舊的，就放進去新手表的盒內，拿走。
今次，也一樣。店員接過我的舊表後，忽爆了一句：「咦，呢隻你都買咗冇耐之喎！」嗯，果然是熟悉行情的人。「大約半年吧！」我隨口答道，其實心中沒有底的。
回家之後，想證實一下自己的記憶是否準確，把舊表的單據找了出來一看，原來是今年二月中買的；果然是半年──多一點點。然而，我的心情卻為之納悶。
半年前那隻手表，我花了大約二千元。今日，我又花了二千元買另一隻手表。如此類推，三年內，我花在手表的錢便達一萬二千元。然而，一萬二千元不就可以買到一隻質量更佳的名廠自動表嗎？到底我應該每半年買一隻二千元的手表，抑或等三年才買一隻更耐用的好表？
想了好一會，我的結論是，維持現時的方式。因為我是個花心的人；一旦買了貴表，大有可能半年後又想買另一只貴表！我負擔不來！
