Hi, Mursy,

It sounds to me as though Ping's deaf. I knew my little Mouse could hear because even though she never twitched an ear when she was out in the yard and I called her to come in, she could be in a sound sleep in another room but if I picked up the dog cookie jar she'd come running.

Do you give Ping dog cookies/biscuits? You said he likes his food treats, right? Try putting some in a coffee can or other similar container, and for a few days give him a cookie 10-15 times a day, shaking the can each time. (If he hears, he'll come to associate the sound of the cookies shaking around the can with getting a treat.) After a few days of this, wait until he's not looking at you and shake the cookie can. If he can hear, he'll probably come running. If he doesn't turn and look around, he probably can't hear. ;-)
