Subject: Our new boy!

I'm so excited to have found this message board and am hoping for lots of advice and support. We just adopted our third dog. The first is a female 2 1/2 year old BC/Aussie shep cross, our second is a female 2 yo pure BC from a Border Collie rescue. We just added a 10 month old deaf BC cross male from the same rescue. He's come from a collector situation where he was horribly neglected. I'm wondering if anyone has trained a deaf dog who was also abused or neglected.
Spenser is a darling doggie, very, very sweet. He's been trained by his foster family and knows the signs for sit, come and is learning down. They've done a little work on a v collar. He is very interested in agility as the other dogs in his foster home compete. Here's a link to him, scroll down to special needs. http://www.glenhighlandfarm.com/dogs_available.htm
He is an adorable dog, who is still a bit stand offish with people.

So, he obviously needs to bond with us, which we are working on. This will be the first step to get his attention on us. I have a private lesson scheduled with our trainer but would appreciate any advice until then.
